    How to run a forum?

If I want to be a moderator of a mainstream forum, what kind of things I need to pay attention in order to run a forum well?

Things such as delete illegitimate threads, block spamming activities and etc. I am still a newbie, when it comes to the administration of a forum. Therefore I would appreciate if any experienced forum moderators can give me some their thoughts and some tricky things they come across when running a forum

Thoughts from both technical and administrative perspectives are welcomed!

    Thank you very much!

Make sure that everybody knows who the boss is. Its especially important that you ban anybody that speaks against the admistration and immediately set this precedence. It drives away posters if they feel that nobody is in control.

Is this for a new forum? or an existing one? If it's for the former, you may want to invest in having 'board populators' post on your boards until you have a good enough base of real posters. Email me at info AT webmasterlabor . com for cheap prices re this service.

True. I've seen it happen in the past. There's a lot of work put into moderating GFY.

i have run a couple of mainstream forums. Basically the best way to do it is to have a few good mods and tell that anything goes cept CP, beastiality, and physical threats. If ya get too heavy handed, you turn people aways.
