I spent those 15 mins with my kid doing it and guess what? It does nothing for me. My kid (age 4) tells me it follows him around. I tried that black and white blob thing and all I see is a negative image of the blob when I close my eyes.

are you sure you put it together correctly?
head part should be "inset" (colors inside, upper/outer part of the head is white paperback).. and are you watching it with both eyes or just one?
Must be looking with one eye only in order to work..
