    freebsd experts? need help urgently

    Hello,

We are experiencing problems with our web server/sql server for our site. It is a pretty important site and is costing a lot of money to be down.. I know a lot of people read GFY so maybe someone can help us We can pay you of course unless you just want to help !

Earlier today we were having issues with an attack.. anyway, the remote hands at the data center took the box apart and tried putting the drives in another machine afterwards because there was drive issues, that didn't work so they put the drives back in the machine... now they are getting:

"enter full pathname of shell or return for /bin/sh"

So they press enter and get "file system failed, startup aborted." and then it reboots...

We are more concerned about getting the data off the disks than getting this particular box up... we are installing a live CD to boot with and then going to copy everything over to another box worst case. My tech is incapacitated at the moment and we desperately need help

    Thanks!

My ICQ is 328-857-408 by the way..

    the data should be fine.

they might not have mounted the drive

they should know what is going on at the datacenter.

if the shell was set at /bin/csh or /usr/local/bin/bash or even /bin/tcsh

i dont think your data is in danger.

but if they take your data off the drive onto the new server, for whatever reasons, tell them to mount it as the second drive.

and put a fresh one for install, if they dont everything wll go byebye.

so have say /data as your data as the second drive

Fire up an IRC client, log onto an efnet server, join #freebsdhelp and ask in there, it's usually a VERY packed room and I'm sure somone would be willing to either help or do it for a fee.

fris, you want to handle it for some $ or something? i just need an expert because the people @ the datacenter are basically just doing whatever I tell them to do verbatim.. they are pretty clueless about it

Never ran into any nazis there personally and actually have had some decent luck.

Another place I've found some decent admins for hire, shockingly, is at scriptlance.

I dunno sounds like a corruption.. his /boot is in place but his system mount is gone.
I'm not a freebsd guru but your kernel is good, atleast part of the drive is functional.

              bump for you also.
