    I don't understand - Saddams hanging

I really don't understand a few things regarding his hanging.

First - I am pretty sure a few networks offered good money to have exclusive to capture the hanging with a film crew. Why the fuck didn't they take it??? I don't think the people who are in that room are financially independant and could sure use the money.

Secondly - Why didn't we see any officials of the Iraqy court in that room? Is it custom overthere that a person who got the death penalty is handed over to the executionar and he chooses what he does and where? This is just not logical.

Thirdly - What do they benefit from doing this in a little dark room without having clear footage? Why wouldn't they want to show the world CLEAR AND CRYSTAL that they hung him? Why only the fucked up footage where we NEVER see Saddam in a clear picture being hung? This doesn't make any sense.

    This is just weird.

I have thought the same things. All this tech and the only thing we get is grainy video?
Where is the part of the video of his body actually swinging from the rafters?
Why does the video got bad at the most crucial moment?
Why did it take so long to release so much of it?
Why are they releasing it in sections?
    Nobody had a real camera?

I just have to hope that this is the real deal, and he is not somewhere in Syria, banging Pinochette's old lady.

Its Iraq. A shithole with a 15th century mentality. Did you ever seen anything else coming from that country?

Try to remember its not a normal execution. Its not some dude that stole a hen or something, its Saddam Hussein.

Would you, in America, execute George Bush the same way you would execute a random bum? Just asking, purely hypothetical.

They did it that way so you could ask all those questions.

Yes, i saw clear and good footage of the bombings and US troops doing raids, tons of clear and good footage of horrible situations. Still, they are not able to get anything clear when they do a planned hanging of one guy?

Doesn't that have a smell to it?

The more reason they should have clear pictures and proof that the guy is hung. The world wants and NEEDS to see him hung. If Bush was hung for the same things he did in the US, i'm pretty sure there would be hard evidence that Bush is dead. Clear and simple.

                This is just weird.

We got clear footage of a US pilot captured and dragged all over the streats but we don't get clear footage when Saddam was hung?

                  Again, very fucking weird.

                    IMHO:
first - think of it as a internal irakian affair, not as a media show
second - it was a court representant that read him the sentence
third - that´s the way criminals are hung in Irak, it´s a place where many others were hung before

there were several things that seemed very wrong about the scenario..

The dirty dark hanging room. ( couldnt they have built a special room considering the guy )

Guards shouting political and ethnic taunts at him. ( isn't that exactly what they/we are trying to avoid right now ? )

Guard placing hood around neck of saddam instead of over his head ( at his request )? since when do they allow or why would they do that ?

Guy taking footage with camera phone , in plain view. ( obviously the hanging was going to be controversial as well as how they disseminate the information, why they would let it be disseminated through such an untrustworthy and questionable way is strange )

The overall amount of people in the room seemed strange as it didn't sound like any of them were from his camp.. if you wanted to be seen as fair thats hardly what you would want to show people is mob mentality..

They should have at least panned the crowd with pitchforks and torches.. lol

Needless to say im sure he got it a thousand times better than many of his enemies did

They haven't released any of the real video yet, only a video phone has been leaked.

Doesn't take much to get the idiots riled up, though.

                              (a) It's a legal process - not a crappy TV show. Why does your national TV not make a new series out of filming all executions for TV entertainment? The people in the hanging chamber have little desire to be shown on camera - chances of them dying a natural death is remote. Times change and video evidence which could be used against them is not a good idea. Don't worry about the "financial independence" of those witnessing the execution - they have more funds than you could ever imagine (Part of them being your tax dollars - flown over in at least 21 cargo aircraft - all in fresh dollar bills, which always seem to disappear within 30 mins of landing in Iraq)

                              (b) The Iraqi government are hardly "conventional" - they are thugs and killers with militia units leaving govt HQ and kidnapping, torturing and killing daily. These units are not challenged by US military. To call those present "guards" or "executioner" is a grandiose term - chances are they are the same people drilling holes in skulls and shot another 20 people the previous day and left their bodies by the roadside.

                              (c) For the same reason as above - they don't care. Iraq is not Texas with nice fresh paint and lighting in a death chamber pretending to be something it's not. Bets on that the same hanging chamber was used to kill others (unofficially) the previous day. There is no bursting desire to film anything - the people performing/witnessing the execution will also be killed/hung at some point as the tide changes. Why provide more evidence? It's a fickle world.

Sure it's weird - and bet we don't know half of it
