    Free software for cutting and re-encoding AVI's?

    What do you use? Not looking to spend money on a fancy program. Just need the basic mark in, markout, encode in lower res features.

      VirtualDub, AVISynth always worked for me, but admittedly I never did anything professionally... just hobby stuff.

      oh, and TMPGENC for mpeg stuff.

      Doom9 is the place to go to find out all you'll ever need to know, really.

          Thanks. I'm not editing anything. Just creating some short clips from long movies
