Ah I grew up there but moved as soon as I had wheels to Lake Tahoe. Still I will say I miss the following:
1. El Indio on Balboa by Van Nuys Airport.. I forget the cross street. I do remember #8 Carnitas Burrito. Next to the El Indio was a bar.. I would watch the Mexican hookers doing guys in the Van in the parking lot. Great take out joint, lots of culture. From Mercedes to Bums in Cars would eat there.
2. Tommy's Hamburger by the 405 freeway, same street as El Indio.. I forget that damn street, goes right by North side of Van Nuys Airport.
3. Getty Oil Fields - when I was younger I'd take my Landcruiser up there and get soo friggin stoned.. then a police helicopter would come chase us out of there.. happened many times. It was pretty fun and terrifying.
'
4. Chatsworth Park - this was a very cool place to hike at one time. The Rope Cave, and the Tunnel. I think it's all locked up now.

I live in Woodland Hills.. just close enough to hear rhe screams of horror from the earthquake that seems to be hitting the Winnetka Ave area at least once a week.

28 years and lived in Calabasas and WH. Now I now spend my time in C-America and Puget Sound in PNW. Sure do miss "fresh" Dan's subs and from time to time they FedX me a few. Hey is USA ribs still in Burbank?
I know TONS of people out there....most porn star girls and their boyfriends, but also lots and lots of directors, producers, etc......I don't know hardly internet folks from there though, only video side people

Roscoe and Balboa... that's it, thx Triumph! Fucking best burritos on the face of this planet. Someone has to tell me if they are still cooking the Carnitas in Huge Copper Pot's with Blocks of Lard in eyes view.. Incredible site. You know how bad that is but you just gotta eat it.
I'd have a #8 Burrito which is Carnitas, CHeese, Guac and then.. add the extra sauce. Then I'd get a couple Carne Asada Tacos. And finish off with a Large Orchata .. really good cinnamon milk. Open 24 hours a day, I'd go there at 4am sometimes.
Luckily I moved away or I might be 500 lb's by now.
Best Chilli Burgers - Tommy's on Roscoe by the 405
Best Fries - Tommys on Sherman Way... I forget the cross street though.
as far as quakes go, was only there for 1971.. I was 6 years old. I remember that night for some reason I wanted to sleep with Mom and Dad.. I didn't do that often but I did then. Good thing since I'd probably be freaked for life if I didn't, my room was a mess they tell me. Maybe kids are like dog's, they can sense earthquakes.
