if you have a cd/dvd drive you can boot off of it into windows or linux and copy files to a networked drive.

you can do that a few times and get no where then do what I do, lol
just the other day my laptop decided to corrput the ntoskrnl file. and you cant just copy it over even if you can start in dos and your cd drive works.. tried it
plus, if you are getting blue screens, there is def something wrong with your o/s 3 years ago, no one would suggest a reinstall
