I spent Christmas with my flatmate and his family. His family are older folk of about 70. They aren't at all dumb and are still very alert and active but live in a small town and live their own life and not much from the outside world in any real depth. So, when I woke up on Christmas morning, turned on my radio and found out that James Brown died I mentioned it over breakfast since in my world that is rather big news. They looked at me blankly and didn't really know he was. Eventually his mother asked me if he went by the stage name 'little Richard'. They are good people I just felt like I was a visitor from a different planet.

sure, i had one of those this christmas but it was a different situation, you sometimes meet a bunch of people you just cant connect with as theyre on a different wavelength
