That has been done and after a person wins they stop posting in the thread.
The thread then moves very slow, sometimes falling off the first page.
Having no consecutive posting rules makes it harder to win.

I agree, I think the people who create these contests forget to add this rule. I don't think they realize that the same people often win multiple times in the same contest. There was a big mishap on another board where someone won two prizes, a PSP and a mini-bike. They forgot to state it in the rules that you couldn't win 2x. They worked it out in the end...but it just shows.

You think so? It all really depends on how fast the thread is moving. This one in particular was a rollercoaster. I don't see how one person dropping off from the contest who already won would make a difference. In this particular contest right here anyway...
