Try American Airlines more often - they are the utter pits - together with their "regional carrier" - American Eagle.
Never really had problems with airlines, excluding the odd delay, till boarding an AA flight. Since then *every* AA flight was a problem and some of these problems lasting months after the flight - with AA deviating and slithering to avoid accepting responsibility. Never again - they can't be trusted with shit and kinda remind me of iBill conduct, pointless
The airline biz is not an easy one, even forgetting the effects of 9/11 - suspect AA is too big as a commerical entity and downline management (tho they may be OK) are not in control. Since that track record of problems, I've heard far worse from ground crew - including "grounding" aircraft in foreign airports till they were in a fit condition to fly.
