this is not what you requested, but if you need filter the crap bots, autodownloaders and other not-human sources of the traffic out, simply redirect all yours 4xx-5xx traffic to the page with the HTML META refresh redirect (you may set-up it to the 0 second), and as the destination of the META refresh type the your target URL.

So all bots and not humans stop on this page, and will not overload your server
and all people will be redirected via the META refresh

when you will do this, you will see how much of the traffic is crap (it may be 80-90 percent)
