My son is 14, going on 15 in a couple months. This scenario COULD potentially happen in a year or so.
Well, okay, not really, but at least my kid would be the same age.
The simple fact is that the mother has given up *all power* to her child. She's dancing to his tune. She has no authority. She can't even effectively wield the ultimate trump card of 'get the hell out of my house'. That phrase holds no power when the kid can walk out and have a reasonable expectation of survival.
There's no doubt that this kid is a little asshole. He's had a decade-plus worth of time to find out exactly how to push his mom's buttons and piss her off... but ultimately, she's the one losing the program, she's the one falling for his shit, and she's the one allowing it to happen.
At this stage, I doubt there's a damn thing she could do to get any power back aside from call the sherriff or a couple large friends and ensure his shit is out on the street. Reality will then likely teach her kid the respect he's lacking while still living under her sheltering wing. In a situation this toxic, it's the only move available IMO.
I've forwarded this on to my wife. Can't wait to hear HER opinion when she wakes up. She might keep it around as a sampler for the kids: "You see how good a mom I am? I *COULD* be like *THIS* freak!"
(For the record, I've never had to raise a hand to my children in thier lives, but I've made it abundantly clear that any sort of abuse by them [physical, mental or emotional] towards their mother will be met with swift and severe retribution. I didn't just get a kid who managed to stay calm: I sensed one who was completely detached and very manipulative. I had a hard time accepting this as a mother/son situation at all, partly because he sounded older, partly because of the way he spoke. He was talking as one adult to another equal... more like husband to wife than son to mother.
They certainly appear to have some major problems, but heaven knows what their real story is. Without any wider context, an analysis based only on this clip is fairly pointless.Comment

I said it the other day when this was posted... you can't tell who is right or wrong based on that. Based on the circumstantial evidence you can conclude that 1-) The mother has anger management problems and being the kid acted calm and video taped this on purpose, obviously not her first fit of rage. She has probably acted like this his entire life... the way she was talking and the way he was acting, you could tell it wasn't the first time. 2-) You NEVER EVER under any circumstances call your child degrading names and tell them you hate them. He's supposed to learn and give respect? Based on the way she acts? She sounds like a selfish bitch with zero parenting skills. Whether the kid is a spoiled brat or not, that's not how you treat or talk to your children.Comment
