Rules are merely guidelines for the ignorant.
When reading The Sound and the Fury during my sophomore year of high school, a highly regarded private school, I noticed that Faulkner would often begin sentences with a conjunction even though the rules of grammar state that you cannot. I asked my teacher what the deal was with that and why it was OK for Faulkner to do it but not acceptable for the rest of us. First he complimented me on my observational skills and told me keep it up.. He then explained how Faulkner was not the only great writer who broke the rules but that they knew them before they broke them and that I had to learn them before I broke them. So that’s what I did.
I can’t speak to whether or Jay is familiar with all rules but I can say for certain that I am so if I say that he’s good writer, you can be rest assured that he’s a good writer. Deal with it. Rock and roll.

Does it really matter if Jay's writing skill isn't up to your standards? Because to me what matters most is the man is getting insane traffic and backlinks from a ton of major media outlets.
