    I haven't drank in 2 weeks and...

    I'm having some SERIOUS problems sleeping at night. I would lay down at 12am and toss and turn until 4:30 or 5! A good friend of mine who is a recovering alcoholic told me to eat a bowl of ice cream 30 minutes before bed. I did that last night and slept like a dead man!

    He said something about your body breaking alcohol down into sugar and when you quit drinking your body is looking for that sugar. Interesting fact and it worked!

    By the way, I haven't drank for 2 weeks and haven't felt this good in years!

                              If you were a heavy drinker its most likely because your body was used to "passing out" rather than natural sleep. It will take time for your body to readjust to creating its on natural sedatives.

                              This is a totally normal and expected side effect of quiting heavy drinking. It will pass over time.

                                  It's the carbs in beer that make you sleepy (and the alcohol, too). Icecream is full of carbs too, so you'll experience a similar effect.

                                  I'd imagine you'd have the same experience if you were to just eat a bunch of bread.
