I really don't understand why you believe that someone who attends college would automatically search for other avenues to get money.
Modelling would be seen as an easy way to make good money quickly. This seems to be the most popular option for everyone let alone 18 to say 22/3 year olds. This group wants money fast so they can party all night. Having a job at miccy d's earning 5 buckeroos an hour just won't cut it.
Also banking on the belief that someone in college is automatically more intelligent and therefore able to seek out other means of generating cash is a fallacy.
