This is true and i totally understand where slick is coming from , he has no reason to be a martyr for the industry. But at the same time if everyone lays down we are letting our rights be trampled..
If it was me i would have done much the same thing as slick..
Its always a hard call when individuals have to make judgement calls and in doing this i would think it almost forces directnic to continue doing a job law enforcement should be doing and i think will quickly snowball. If another registrar just wanted to kill his competition they could simply send allegation to every domain at directnic and they will be forced to spend the manpower to investigate..
The steps are already in place ( 2257 ) to start enforcing some of this stuff legally, icaan and the feds should be cooperating and setting out guidlines for registrars.. to me its pretty simple.. If the domain is registered in the usa and has no 2257 , a warrant would be issued to the registrar to pull the domain . not the registrar doing it themselves based on nothing really. This would obviously ruffle alot of feathers , but i think it would be beneficial and give us a guidline to follow.
