nice to hear your update , now where is directnic.. they still left alot of questions.. Frankly , while i empathize with your situation , im not worried about you but about me ( no offense ). It would really be nice to KNOW the litmus test directnic gives sites before they decide to suspend them. We know what the law says as its clearly defined ( well mostly anyways ), but in this case it doesnt appear a legal decision was made bur more of a judgement call based on someones "gut feeling ? thats a convincing argument, but we dont know that all of those cases werent just as illegal.. I'm sure unlawfull practises happen all the time we aren't aware of, that doesnt exactly mean we should just fold when it happens to us right.. ? the shawinternet had/has a little more background.. and was later proven to be unlawfull by the registrar ( well that might be a stretch actually , im not sure if you could actually prove tucows was unlawfull to pull the domain )That's because there's a world outside GFY. As an example. SICcash had a domain shut down by Tucows. Why? Because it was Shawinternet.com and Shaw Cable company in Canada decided it was too much like their name. No judges involved, no FBI, registrar just shut it down.
SICcash later won the domain back but it cost them tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees - none of which is recoverable (Brad's a Jew - if he could get it back, he would!).
Domains get put on hold and canceled all the time. Just not everyone brings it to GFY, or even reads GFY....or even knows GFY exist
And infact i would think the shaw case alone would be a worrysome tidbit and certainly not something we should hope for.. as the domain was pulled just because of an allegation , nothing to do with the law..hatisblack at yahoo.comComment

Believe it or not, there are people on here, other than yourself, that have made money. It's just not everyone needs to toss around that fact to help make themselves feel more secure.
Also you may want to note, that just because you have made money, doesn't mean your opinions are somehow instantly valid. Plenty of people have made plenty of money and are still clueless about plenty of things.
While it's obvious you have a self sense of entitlement, the actual opinions that I've seen you expressing on here are sophomoric at best, and certainly haven't been impressive in their own right.
"I was in this industry early on and made a lot of money then left so listen to what I say as if it were the word of god" doesn't impress me as much as it may some others on here.
I'm one of those people that judges a person based on the ideas and opinions that they express, not their perceived bonifides.

This is true and i totally understand where slick is coming from , he has no reason to be a martyr for the industry. But at the same time if everyone lays down we are letting our rights be trampled..
If it was me i would have done much the same thing as slick..
Its always a hard call when individuals have to make judgement calls and in doing this i would think it almost forces directnic to continue doing a job law enforcement should be doing and i think will quickly snowball. If another registrar just wanted to kill his competition they could simply send allegation to every domain at directnic and they will be forced to spend the manpower to investigate..
The steps are already in place ( 2257 ) to start enforcing some of this stuff legally, icaan and the feds should be cooperating and setting out guidlines for registrars.. to me its pretty simple.. If the domain is registered in the usa and has no 2257 , a warrant would be issued to the registrar to pull the domain . not the registrar doing it themselves based on nothing really. This would obviously ruffle alot of feathers , but i think it would be beneficial and give us a guidline to follow.hatisblack at yahoo.comComment
