    do you watch TV when you work ?

    I used to work from my bed with a 50" plasma in front of me and I think I spent too long watching the TV

    now I'm in my office but it doesn't feel right without any tv so I plugged one in and I've got the news on in the backgounrd I think it make me work better

          No. I just listen to music. When something important (like simpsons) is on, I stop working and watch tv..
          ..and I'm off.

                      I have the tv on in the background . . things like the History Channel, Court TV, National Geographic . . . as they repeat their stuff so frequently it is impossible to not pick up additional knowledge

                              i dont have a tv at my work place. TV distracts me while working and i will be wasting too much electricity if i just turn it on and dont watch. i'd listen to mp3 to set some mood

                                      Nope. Too distracting. I keep tv in other room out of office. Otherwise you get caught up in a show, and I get little work done.

                                              I usually always have the tv on, but with the sound turned right down untill i wanna sit and watch something on it. Listen to music the rest of the time...

                                                  I used to play Court TV in the background, but somehow I got used to the silence and now it's hard to work with it on. Depends what I'm doing though, when it's mundane stuff, I sometimes need the TV to keep me from nodding off!

                                                  And I'm the second person to mention Court TV - wonder why that makes such good "background" sound.

                                                      I used to have a tv set up where I could view it just to the right of my monitor.
                                                      I bought a new desk and now the tv is behind me and to the right.
                                                      I would venture to say I am now less productive...don't know why but I am.

                                                              I set my computer up in the same eyeshot as the TV because with of all my satellite equipment I often need to refer to online info. When I'm working I either put the news on in the background (sometimes switching between the news channels if something is particularly annoying) or I listen to online streams.
