I agree 100%... they must have an amazing setup to handle as many transactions as they do..
One transaction would take several steps... I don't know the internal steps.. but from the outsides looking in:
1: log remote user details (ip/browser/language etc)
2: get/archive refering document (for fraud prevention)
3: internal risk management (negetive database)
4: connect to gateway > send data
5: respond accordingly to gateway response
6: if approved > link to website, add use to password file / update logs
7: update internal database (actually, this is probably done with each step)
8: send email to subscriber
9: send email to webmaster
And this does not even include the load put on the servers for rebills, cancelations, affiliate tracking, statistics, expirations, back-end reporting etc..
They have 1000's of active webmasters, and even guys like me can have several transactions go through all at the same time...
I have never seen CCBill's physical setup, but I have no doubt in my mind, it is massive and very well put togther... Perhaps someone from CCBill could post pics?? I would love to see!
CCBill rock, and I have no doubt that they are constantly upgrading their systems to meet our needs... They have served us well for years, and hopefully they will be around for a very long time.
