I have a weird fear of water...only if I can't see through it. Pool water, spring water, rivers or beaches with clear water...all fine.....but get me out in water I can't see through and I have to fight off an anxiety attack. I wasn't like that until I was 15, on a day trip with my boyfriend's family on their sailboat down off Ancloat Key in the Gulf of Mexico, and I was swimming to the boat from shore alone, and when I got within 50 feet of the boat, I started to panic thinking of everything that *could* be around me that I couldn't see, and I barely made it to the boat.

EDIT: I forgot to say that I joke about it...I tell people I must just want to see the shark that takes me down before it gets me.

this is going to sound weird ... but i use the phone all day ... but i can't call in a food order .. i get anxiety and just can't do it ...my wife has to call it in ...it's fucked up but it's always been like that ... i wonder if there is a name for the fear of calling in takeout ....

I feel the same way...it's like that doll with the freaky eyes when I was a little girl, who I had to lay down at night so her eyes would close before I could go to sleep, and I was always afraid I'd wake up in the morning and she'd be sitting up again, staring at me.

I can swim in deep water no problem, like a lake, but if I can touch bottom I freak out, esp if I can't SEE the bottom. Like if it's a typical lake with 10 feet of sludge under 8 feet of water... one toe into that muck and I start hyperventilating, just thinking of something sucking me under!

Afraid of heights, too. I ended up on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas one year and as soon as we stepped outside to go on the ride I started freaking out and crying. Bad scene. I was so embarrassed, but the guy said it actually happened quite often.
