I had an uncle once that was a new car salesman. His biggest pet peeve was people who didin't use their signals. When he'd sell a new car, he'd ask the client, "Do you want that with or without turn signals?" The customer would choke and ask what he meant. He'd laugh and say that "Well, most people don't use them anyway so I thought I could save you a few bucks."
He's right. At least, down here. People in Mexico either don't use them or leave the damned things on all fucking day! No concept!Comment

Yeah it's not tough to use turn signals. It takes a push of a finger to be couteous to other drivers. While we're on this subject what is as annoying as people who don't use turn signals are the people who ride in the left lane all day and don't get right when you approach from behind at a clearly higher rate of speed. Slightly similar situation is my pet peeve:Originally posted by EroticySteveYeah it's not tough to use turn signals. It takes a push of a finger to be couteous to other drivers. Riding in the right-hand lane with my left turn signal on looking over my shoulder, obvious I want to get in the left lane, but the person in the left lane is gradually increasing speed preventing me from doing so. Once they finally pass and I switch to the left lane they immediately switch to the right
All the fucker would have to do is swap to the right lane as I go to the left and they could go as fast as they wanted to much sooner, but then again they wouldn't have the pleasure of possibly making me miss my turn.Last edited by mardigras; 07-25-2005, 05:52 AM..Comment

I use them all the time, even when there is no "visible traffic" on the road. For one, there could be an unseen pedestrian who might benefit from the knowledge that you're about to make a turn, and for TWO it keeps you in the habit of using them.
What I hate most these days is idiots who are holding a cell phone to their idiot heads while driving, thus occupying their hand that they would otherwise be using to work their turn signal thingy. Nothing worse on the road than a non-turn-signal-using cell phone having idiotwhistle. It should be legal to shoot them on sight.Promote Wildmatch, ImLive, Sexier.com, and more!!

It's not just an act of courtesy, it's an act of safety and of course the law.
I am now of the opinion that things like people running yellows, not using traffic signals, multiple lane changes *like going from the far left lane to the far right in one move* etc aggressive driving like this should be penalised more than just your regular 5-10 mph over the speed limit. For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

Haha, it's one of the top pet peeves and yet EVERYONE uses them. At least, noone will admit to NOT using them.
As someone who used to drive for a living, of course I used them, but it rarely if ever pissed me off when others didn't.
The ONLY time it would is if someone cut me off because they didn't use them.
Otherwise, I would be travelling far enough behind them to know that they're probably slowing down to turn. If I had to slam on my brakes because they didn't use their turn signals, I was travelling too close to them to begin with.Comment
