No way.

As far as which is easier to "pick up" if you talking about a surfing a long board, maybe. Hell, anyone can jump on a long board and rides the waves the first day they try. It's like standing on a boat in the water...nothing to it.

A short board? No way.....that like standing on thin 2x4. I've been surfing since i was 8 years old, and nothing was tougher to learn when it comes to balance.

As far as "wiping out," between snowboarding and surfing, they can't be compared. From surfing, I've had stiches everwhere from rocks and coral, numerous near drowning experiences, crushed by waves, and tons others.
From snowboarding, broken bones, etc, etc.

Both hurt just as equal.
Keep this in mind. I would rather have a hard fall on the snow anyday then to EVER experience what's it like to nearly drown. Especially knowing that once you pop your head out of the water in exhaustion to take a breath, another monster wave is on it's way to push you back under..then another, then another.

but with Snowboarding you have complete control over your ride; How long or short, fast or slow, the way it feels, and how simple or complex a path you'll take.
You make it happen, you literally carve it out of the mountain.
I'm 1.5 hours from either one, but I'd have to vote North. [/B]
I been snowboaring for about 10 years myself, and as much as I love both rides with a passion, i still haven't found anything that compares to shredding the waves.

Most people will swear by snowboarding, but then again, most people have never has them themselves inside a wave curl, completely surrounded by water, seeing the end of the tunnel 10-15 feet in front of you, looking down to see the fish below your fins and the coral, while dragging your hand in the wave beside you to slow yourself down......never wanting to leave.

It's a place and a time that is seriously uncomparable to anything...
