I think you've made some good points. I dated a girl who was religous and would make me go with her to this church in the wealthier North Suburbs of Chicago. It amazed me how much money was put into this church. It was a huge building, had comfy reclining seats, big auditorium, huge stage with speaker systems and so on throughout the auditorium. In other areas of the building were fancy paintings, sculptures and it was a truly impressive place to be.

But it hits you that there is millions of dollars being put into this. Would it not be better to have more modest settings and use that money for other purposes? It is amazing to see some of the facilities that churches are building these days.
