I have only ever joined Yahoo Personels, and that was years ago. In all my years online, I always had more success in the BBS's (old days) and in chats. I did meet people from the Yahoo Personnels, but none of them panned out.

The problem isn't so much chat is different than the singles sites, but the fact that people seems to be a lot more willing to meet in chats. Also in my experience, personnels people were looking for prince charming in a can, while using a decade old picture. A lot of them did not look as advertised, and were not all they turned out to be. So after a few of those, I went back to the chats, and have met plenty over the decade or so online.
