Explain me how I can run a free softcore facial site?Originally posted by KingfishI would recommend getting use to driving sales with soft core (non-sexually explicit content) so it doesn?t come as a shock when it does happen.

EXACTLY! Thank you!Originally posted by Sagi_AFFWord. The only thing they would be able to claim is: We made them go offshore. Fucken idiots don't even know how stupid it is to do all this work only to send INTERNET porn offshore. It's the INTERNET!!!
The same tactics of asset protection and laundering money that the big shot business guys and politicians use apply to everyone else. They would be cutting their own throats and they know it. This is all for show. They know damned well there are umpteen gillion other venues that would scap up the chance to process billing.
Instead of bitching about porn they should be looking for Bin Laden or protecting our borders or getting dope off our streets.Comment

Agreed. No one is going to do age verification to get into a US-based MGP/TGP/Freesite, etc, when they can hit anything overseas..Originally posted by Braincash Fred-Title I stipulates ?an operator of a regulated pornographic website shall verify that any user attempting to access their site is 18 years of age or older using software certified for that purpose ? prior to the display of any pornographic material, including free content that may be available prior to the purchase of a subscription or product?(emphasis added).
Means only soft ... no hardcore anymore in free sites, free tours , free hosted gals....

"...software certified for that purpose"
That's what worries me. I don't think they're talking about credit cards here. I think they mean the platforms that positively ID a person, and they don't work well. Maybe a 40% correct ID rate.
If a person has moved in the last year or so, you'll never get a match. Or, if the name is missing a middle initial, etc.. or the street address is typed incorrectly, for example Road vs Rd.
I built a dating service a few years ago that required postive age verification, plus absolute proof of identity, with background checks, etc. The age part never really did work, and the state of the industry hasn't advanced much since then. It's also expensive. Plus, it's cumbersome - the end user has to jump through hoops to get it to work, and any semblence of privacy is totally out the window.Comment

Let?s see a $1 trial is now a $1.25 trial a $2.95 trial is now a $3.69 trial, a $4.99 trial is now a $6.24 trial and a free trial is still a free trial as 25% of 0 is 0. So I don?t see any real impact at all on sign-ups. Especially if you?re breaking it down to show the tax going to the good old USA.Originally posted by GatorBHard enough to get people to pay for a membership NOW add 25% to that an see how much harder it is. I'm really torn about this.
On one hand, it'd have a serious chilling effect on porn in the US. Anyone who thinks it wouldn't is a damn fool or hasn't thought it through.
On the other hand, it'd be like going back to the 90s for people outside the US. A gold rush of epic proportions to fill in the vaccuum left behind.
So I'm torn between feeling bad for fellow industry peers, and giggling like a schoolgirl over the potential for massive revenues.
Hm. Maybe I'll giggle, in a morose sort of way.

25% increase on a 30$ membership is enough to bring convertion & rebill down significantly... and enough to move my business out of usa. Also means that you can make 25% more in sales by running your business elsewhere than in USA...Originally posted by KingfishLet?s see a $1 trial is now a $1.25 trial a $2.95 trial is now a $3.69 trial, a $4.99 trial is now a $6.24 trial and a free trial is still a free trial as 25% of 0 is 0. You know as well as I that porn sites make their money on MONTHLY memberships. Think about it. A sponsor pays an affiliate $35 for a $1 sale? Hmmmmmm. Only reason they do that is if they can get that surfer to re-up for at least a month and possibly make some cross sales ALL of which are now goig to be taxed at 25%. That cuts in the SPONSORS wallet and trust me they aren't going to eat that cost.Originally posted by KingfishLet?s see a $1 trial is now a $1.25 trial a $2.95 trial is now a $3.69 trial, a $4.99 trial is now a $6.24 trial and a free trial is still a free trial as 25% of 0 is 0. The religious right does not care how much money porn bring into the US economy, they want it gone. Say porn was responsible for 50% of the US economy and banning it would shove the US into a 20 year long depression. its not extortion, you guys dont see it yet? I saw it when visa and MC started that high risk fee.
its all about shutting down adult businesses, they dont really want your money, they want you gone, each new law or regulation is designed to make it harder for adult sites to stay in business, but I think that if this went through as is, it would be hard for anyone stay stay in business in the US.

Oh allot will change, they dont want to make a tax class for us because we are special, they want it so they can audit the shit out of you and make it easier to find you to do 2257 checks and everything else. this way they can also monitor the effect they are having each year to how many registered adult sites are closing down.

give me a break. a red neck senator from Sisterfuck Arkansas is going to propose a tax on porn and the sky is falling? if anyone here really believes that congress is going to debate a tax on porn in front of the nation and world and then pass legislation on it (also giving indirect support of the industry and validating it) you are smoking too much weed. do you think the religious right is going to be comfortable knowing social programs are being supported by revenue from two-midgets-fisting-each-other.com?

The online adult business was unexpected. It literally drives the ongoing technologies and banking techniques. It's all about a bunch of people making lots of money that others want to control. They know dang well if they shut U.S. adult businesses down it'll spring up somewhere else. They just want to make sure it's THEIR pals who are making the money NOT you and me.Comment

Please, there's a host of opportunities for people outside the US. Right off the top of my head:Originally posted by nophestIf you run webcams or adult personals sites, sure.
- Affiliate programs outside the US would now have a built in 25% barrier to entry against US competetors. Start a paysite.
- People attempting to end-run the 25% thing will go with outsourced billing solutions. Start a billing company.
Basically, if this thing comes to pass then anything anyone's doing in the US will be able to be done cheaper outside the US. That's not opportunity knocking, that's opportunity running up, bending over and spreading for you to make sweet, sweet love.

These types of bills get introduced every session of congress - and they get shelved every session as well as the little ones like the CDA that actually make it through get declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
The only foul I would call here is posting this kind of shit in an attempt to sensationalize this type of news - seems we have created a whole group of WMs that love to be "shit stirrers" in the last few years - time for the BS posts about "news" to be called out for what it isComment

You're disappointing me, turning soft like that...
Now to address the issue at hand, I hear a lot of discussing and bickering about this, but has everyone actually thought of a SOLUTION to this, except for moving offshore? Personally, I could care less, this wouldn't affect me in a direct and immediate way, except positively. But all you US-based people, do you realize that you actually have more direct access to voters than most political campaigners? Wake up and smell the coffee, it's YOUR content the voters jerk off to, enlighten them about this and ask them to go bitch to their congressmen for letting morons make their daily pleasures more expensive.Whitehat is for chumps
