What gets me is it's not the program that is doing the spamming, so assuming they killed all affiliates that spam. What's to stop the competition from getting some spammers to send out of bunch of spam promoting those programs to put them out of biz.

From what I understand not all the companies listed spam and they do close webmaster accounts that don?t send compliant emails. Notice some settled while others didn?t, if you didn?t violate the law then no reason to settle.

I'd guess less than that. But the ones that settled can easily be fucked by a rogue affiliate spamming them for fun. Part of the agreement was no more spams.

I'm just courious.. But why would you settle if you didn't break the law in the first place? TOS or not.. I know for a fact I have recieved spam from some of these companies in the last month. Looking to see if I can dig it up again..

ps: that includes someone who *IS* in compliance, as we accept *NO* email traffic. Period.

The cost of settling is far less than the cost of defending yourself against the FTC. If you're not making that much money from mail, it may be a better choice.
