Yes - actually happens here every Wednesday night and Sunday morning at just about every church in town
And what the fuck is wrong with displaying a flag of our heritage and history - I suppose its ok for Puerto Rican flags in NYC but not the stars and bars in my home town? We didnt celebrate the 4th of July here until 4 years ago - that was the day our city fell to US Grant in 1863 and has always been a day of mourning and remembrence of our ancestors that were killed by their brothers and fathers fighting for the side of nationalist views instead of states views - and please dont give me nay garbage about thinking that the civil war was fought over slavery - it wasnt and if you really believed your history teacher in high school - you need to go brush up on your history
More importantly - dont fucking label us as any special party - we vote for whomever we like(and we actually vote - do you?) - democrat or republican its all an individual choice unlike a lot of fucking sheep on here that follow the crowd to be politically correct - and for those of you that are too young to remember - 30 years ago the south was all democrat - a republican couldnt even stump down here. But I guess it fits your mold of what everyone is like in different parts of the US.
No mold here. You would need to be all of the three items listed first. It is a lot more than just those that display a flag.
I agree our Democratic msg has been off for a few yrs, hopefully starting in 06 and then in 08 we can get our msg out correctly. and control the spin as best as possible.

It would probably be a good idea to actually come up with a plan as to what to do about problems, as opposed to what is presently being put forward....
That is, just putting out the same solutions for social problems that have been put out for 30 years, and then just being critical of the Republicans on Foreign policy without offering a new alternative plan.

from apurely cynical standpoint, with the iraq war, the next republican is going to be a hardsell..and maybe a lost cause..rice would be the best machiavellan move by the republicans because she would definitely help the republican party with blacks and females LONG TERM
I guess the biggest problem I see reading through posts here and other places is the same labelling that goes on in the press - which whether anyone agrees or not doesnt really matter to me - but I believe that the press has been so supressed and molded, and of course they have handed that down to the public through the "the media is the message" mentality.
If you go search for James Carville, whom I happen to agree is a good go-getter, he is labelled as "the voice from the left". I guess being over 50 years old I remember the real left and right wingers - and I can tell you that it has gotten so damn politically correct in the media that someone like Carville, who really is middle of the road, is not the extreme left.
I hold an opinion that most of this is due to US citizens apathetic behavior for the last 20 years exemplified by their sheeplike following of whatever the press throws at them. 35 years ago we were screaming at the top of our lungs to get rid of a president for real illegal acts - and nowadays the press fixates on whether a president gets a blowjob? Hell theres been presidents in history who had live-in mistresses in the White House that didnt get but a small one day scoop in the newspapers.
Unfortunately, until the general public figures out exactly how the government is spinning the press or starts caring about who actually sits in the White House and shows it by voting (which unfortunately most of the loudest protesters these days - DONT) the things that really matter will never get fixed. Of course maybe I just have a different view of what really matters
I was appalled at the turnout for the aid to Africa concerts - and the support we gave to that as Americans - when we have the exact same problem at home and dont do a damn thing to fix it - we have people dying in our own country of starvation every day - they live in poverty just like the Africans (Im not saying we shouldnt help who we can - just that we might want to fix our own problems first???) and can't get access to medical care for normal immunizations - even right in that great state of Tn SouthernGirl is in.

Funny how Bush grabbed a Democratic cause during the election and proposed centers for those who couldn't afford healthcare and nary a peep about it since
I don't belive Jeb will run, he has actually said down the road mabey but not 2008
Then which Bush will run? I suppose George Sr. could, but he's getting pretty old already. You're kidding yourself if you think the republicans are going to run a ticket without a Bush on it. The last time they did that was what, Ford? It's not a coincidence.
And as much as I hate it Rice would be a good canidate. I am fairly sure my father has a crush on her and he is an ultra Republican. Don't underestimate the power of totty for the thinking man - even if I disagree with what they think.
A black woman?
Umm nope. The repubs could pull a lot of shit off but getting their core base of bible thumpers, hicks, and confederate flag waving voters to put a black woman into office as the president is a super long shot.
Not if they can be convinced she's a bible thumping, southern hick, confederate flag waving, white woman....
If you were around last election, you would see that anythings possible.
arnold is gonna become president and pull the troops out of iraq and say "i'll be back" and then all the terrorists will ask for his autograph and make peace.
