I bought everyone in the family who has a car one of those safety hammers that break the window and can cut the seatbelt if needed. Last year I bought everyone a MagLight. One year everyone got a copy of Milo and Otis. I always pick a little something that EVERYONE gets.
One year we all bought each other those Snake lights. We ended up with 4 or so each

We now call the gift everyone gets a "Snake light gift".
We also do something different each year. This year it's "Yella" year. From my brother:
Here’s the deal: We’ll draw names for everyone (subject to audit by the accounting firm of (my other brother)). It won’t be a secret who everyone drew. Your task is to find a gift (or gifts) for your chosen person for no more than $5 (you crazies - and you know who you are - can go up to $8 if you just can’t stand it). Here are the guidelines:
- It can’t be something on their list – that’s the big one!
- It can be something you think they’ve always wanted, something they’ll throw away when we clean up the wrapping paper, or even something that could end up being passed along if we do this again someday – as long as you think it will bring a smile to them when they open it (yes, “smiling on the inside” counts).
- It doesn’t have to be new! It could be something homemade or something you do for them (as long as you figure out a way to put it under the tree).
- It has to be wrapped primarily in yellow. That’s not for any particular reason – I just thought it sounded fun. It doesn’t have to be wrapping paper at all, but Peaches (not my real name, but you get the picture) can’t use, um, yellow newspaper.
Yes, I have an odd family ;)
