Usually what criteria does google base on approving/denying an adsense account/site and generally how long until you get word of approval/denial?

As long as it isn't adult or gambling related they let just about any crap in as long as it's not blatantly spammy. Once you're approved for one site you can put it on other sites without them having to be reviewed. Mine was approved within a few hours, depends how backed up they are I'd say."There is no other way to see a thing except to look at it" - fatfoo -
