But at the time, it sounded like a great place to make beer. Fine German-style pilsners were enjoyed through-out the area untils some uppity politicos invented prohibition in 1920. The brewery closed, leaving the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe along with several thousand beer lovers' stomachs empty.

Sensing that (Beer Patrol Saint) FDR might get elected and repeal the 18th Amendment, the five Tito brothers Frank, Joseph, Robert, Ralph and Anthony pursued their lifetime dream and purchased the Latrobe Brewing Company in the hope it would someday be operational again.

The Tito Brothers were right. In 1933, the Latrobe Brewing Company was back in business, and the first two brews out the door were the popular Labrobe Pilsner and Latrobe Old German. But the brothers longed for something more.

Female companionship, no doubt. But more importantly, a unique beer that could represent the heart and sould of Latrobe.

The result? In 1939, Rolling Rock Beer was born. An aptly named homage to the smooth-pebbled streams from which their beer found its source."
well after that well written summary,,, I must try some rolling rock!!
