Although Adolph Hitler adopted that symbol in 1920 and destroyed its true meaning it the history as you call it of the swastika dates back much further and has more peaceful connections. He looks indian so that symbol means something completely different to him and his culture. If anyone is interested in a good short informative read check this out.

first of all, the svastika is mostly hinduist, although it is also used in buddhism. buddhist svastikas outside of india are now 'sauvastikas', ie left-facing. in hidnduism, svastikas look different (they are usually accompanied by dots). in any case, the 45 degree one is a nazi symbol, no doubt about it.Originally posted by PhoenixComment
