Sure, my cycle puts me in a mood and I have to bring my hot water bottle to work once a month, but all these excuses for not showing up to work have got to quit! It's precisely this... "I'm so special I deserve an exception from work" mentality that makes people lazy.

Just ask your parents or grandparents if THEY think that paid menstrual leave is a good idea... chances are they'll pipe in with a "When I was young we had to work so fucking hard..." story that will put our pampered lazy asses to shame!

As I stated above, I am all for it, I am not the one that believes work is more important than life. I believe some of the European countries have it right: take time-off whenever one feels it is required, and if the insurance company wants to reward extra 'sick' days, bonus, but that should not be expected (if I am sick, I do not want the company to pay, just give me the day of and leave me alone).

Yes, I do feel sorry for females (I have a sister and a mother, and have sympathy for their plight, unlike some of the macho pricks posting).

My sister does not receive monthly visits since she stared taking the pill. This leads me to ask: is this not so with the majority of females?

That depends... most oral contraceptive actually enduce your period. There's only one that I heard of that makes your period stop coming and I believe that's a shot of some sort. Other than that, most women get their period, even when they are on birth control.

If women got 1 day off each month to deal with their cramps and such, I personally believe it's the men who have to work with them who would benefit more than the women who get to stay home. Any man who's had to deal with a woman on her worst day of the month should be able to attest to this.

I rarely call in sick for actual illness, but I've used several of my sick days for cramps. Some girls aren't lucky enough to just get cramps. Some of us get leg cramps, back cramps, headaches, diarrhea and nausea to go along with our regular menstrual cramps. I've had cramps so bad I've actually vomited from them. So if all you need is a water bottle and a couple of midol, consider yourself lucky
My sister has never had a cramp in her life, and I don't think I've ever been more jealous of anybody... ever.
