on that note, i've been messing with the 17-40 L and it shoots great. what camera body are you using? if it's a crop body as opposed to a full frame, the 17-40 might not be wide enough.. and the 24-105 might be too tight
edit: i'm an idiot, you said 30d.. that has a 1.6x crop which means the 17mm = 27mm and 24mm = 38mm. keep that in mind.

Yes I have Canon 30D and it has 1.6x crop i know that. But how you can say that if i will invest money in f/4.0 if that lens Canon EF 28-105mm L IS cost 1337$ and Canon EF 28-70 f/2,8 L USM cost 1455$ here in Russia. I could not get 2-3 lenses.
