if you like american cars, buy the benz. it is (was) a much smoother ride than the BMW. however, since chrysler or whoever bought it, i am staying the fuck away from it.
i own an 01 version of that bmw. its a nice ride. i like the old design more. the new ones look like japanese cars.

I've had a Mercedes, and the thing gave me nothing but issues. I would choose the BMW ALL THE WAY! I LOVE the 7 series! They are amazing cars.
I've also had a Volvo, and though they are pretty yuppy'ish I'd choose that over a Mercedes, too.
