the best model for conventions is to have free registration up until 30 days prior to the event and then gouge everyone who registers within 30 days of the event.

smart approach for AVN:

the idea of everyone having a badge can only be for 2 reasons.
a) to keep non-webmasters out
b) to line AVNS pockets

So, obviously AVN wants everyone to beleive (a), so why not make everyone produce their badge on CHECK IN at the hotel, to prove theres at least 1 registered person per room, and only allocate the same number of ROOM KEYS as SHOW BADGES per room!

This way it WILL keep non-webmasters out, AND keep everyone happy with the chicks situation. Then to re-enter the hotel you just need to produce a room key and not a fucking badge, which mind you - is just a piece of paper with nothing to protect it right now???? (wtf?)

There are a lot of people in the biz that live in south florida and are not getting rooms. I personally didn't enjoy having "civilian" types wandering around the lobby, Sautine, Hollywood prime and the lobby bar staring at us "freaks". I'm there to hang with my friends and do business, and it was off putting to feel these non-webmasters gawking at us.
