    Single girl site questions.

Ok, so I have my TightFetish.com which is doing pretty well. I just bought a boat load of new exclusive content to be added (including movies!!). The site is making a decent amount of money and it keeps growing each month which is great considering I've only had about 15 promo galleries. In about a month or two the site will have 30 hosted galleries to promote the site and I will be able to begin buying monthly spots on some of the big TGP's. I expect the signups to double at least by then.

So anyway, I'd really like to try my hand at some amatuer model sites like Divinity18, KatieFey etc. They seem to do pretty well. Would some of you mind answering a few questions for me?

#1. What sort of contract is used for the models?

#2. Is it common to pay models a percentage of the sites income if you don't have a large sum of money to pay for models up front?
If so, what percentage is fair?

#3. Where do many of you find your models? Walking through a mall? From the internet?

#4. What sort of problems do you run into when dealing with models when developing sites for them?

#5. Might you have any tips on how to do things right to save me from costly mistakes?

I know some of you will want to flame me or make jokes because I'm asking questions, but please keep in mind I'm asking you because I already know that you know more than I do. I'm just hoping some of you will share your expertise.

    Thank you.

Retention. Not for the surfers (that's obvious), but for the talent. She better be serious and accept the fact your basing a business with potentially a considerable investment in her. That's where a good, solid contract comes into play - but even more than that, a win-win relationship where she's happy to be working with you and vice versa.

which leads to question one. obviously you have to really prequalify the model but a good contract is important. i doubt but theres potentially similar types of contracts floating around that can be modified to fit... contracts employed by tour (mainstream music) managers perhaps which doesnt require exclusivity but minimum work requirements without damages. eh.

Do yourself a favour and simply pay the model. Then they go away. % deals are cheaper up front, but when the model doesn't make a million dollars in the first month they'll bug the hell out of you to know why, and eventually think they own the site and content.
No matter how good your contract is there's always a way out, it's called fair use.

If you can't afford an attorney to draw up the correct contract then you can't afford to be in the business of solo girl sites.

what an intelligent and helpfull reply. i dont know about you, but (coming from mainstream internet business) I do advise what information i would like contained in the contracts and guide the process. It seems odd to me that it wouldnt be the same in the adult industry. Some input as to what it should look like, some things to be weary of, are important (as having an attorney of course rewrite the sun of a bitch once your done) I think in any contract development process.

but thats ok, keep you cynicism, I suppose it makes forums a more interesting place ;)

                      LOL......Whatever.

The bottom line is you are considering making the number 1 newbie mistake out there.

If you would stop and think for a few minutes then you might realize that if you can't answer such basic questions on your own then you are already in way over your head and you have no business going any further.

LEARN the business first....THEN consider opening sites.

You learn from hands on experience and hard work over the years....NOT from leeching answers off a message board.

Funny stuff. I wonder if others around here are as amused by your somewhat illogical anger?

anyways, i was under the impression that forum was webmaster q and a. who knew that it was simply a misnomer to confuse everyone because everyone here should be experts from years of "hands on hard work" before they would have the nerve to post anything in webmaster q and a. lol

second, your making alot of assumptions about me from just posting asking about contracts for girls. I never mentioned anything about getting rich quick, it being easy, or me thinking in any sort of adult expert. In fact I've given the same speach that site you linked gives (essentially) to mainstream clients who think the internet will make them rich. Obviously the internet these days is alot of work, its a low cost of entry and everything is getting whored out by big people mainstream and in smut. Please take your assumptions and pompous attitude to somewhere where maybe someone might be impressed.

                            thanks buddy. ;)

First of all, I'm not angry, I'm informed...Unlike you.

Don't cry to me because you don't like the honesty of my answers.

Furthermore......The contract issue is one that any decent adult attorney would already have a good handle on. Your attorney should be telling you what is needed in the contract.

Once again, if you had a clue you would know this.

I'm not here to impress anybody. If you don't like my answers then feel free to hang around and keep asking questions until you get the answer you want instead of the correct answer.

oh ok the correct answer to "what type of contract is used for ..."

is "you dont have enough money for this undustry"

gotcha. do you think anyone believes your hollier than thou attitude? i sure dont and i'm new here and admittedtly not terribly informed on the subject.

and "any decent adult attorney would handle" well sure, but does that mean a person shouldnt want to know?

If i was on a business forum and asked about the benefits of types of incorporation the correct answer isnt "you cant afford to ask a lawyer so dont start a business". Thats just a pompous whiny nonsensical response by those that feel privledged and enlightened. People with that attitude have no place on a forum for people to ask questions. Because you dont know the answers, or you dont want to answer them, doesnt mean its stupid to ask.

Its funny "keep asking questions until you get the answer you want instead of the correct answer" assuming that answers just prancing around "oh you dont have the money for it" are the right answer to a question when you have no clue a) what im doing b) what my resources are or c) my reasons for asking.

seriously buddy, maybe your angry that you used to make more and nowadays have difficulty drawing traffic? Maybe you spend all day trying to build up signups only to see your income dwindle away over the last few years and feel like taking out your frustrations on newer posters? I'm sure its quite tempting to take on the attitude if your income is dwindeling and you have years of "hard learned knowledge". How could someone new possibly have the audacity to think they can make anything? You keep that attitude, you keep that frustration.

I do have to say though, your replies are entertaining.. in that you really take yourself that seriously. im not sure why your on the q/a forum aside from perhaps stroking your own ego? meh either way i'll look forward to your reply (im sure itll be doted with plenty of little gems). Since the back and forth is really somewhat pointless i'll acquiesce whatever you say is right buddy. ;)

                                  God damn,.....You're one pompous fuck.

Why am I in this forum? Because sometimes it helps to get honest answers instead of having people blow sunshine up your ass for your traffic or business.

you can have any contract you want, what matters is being able to enforce it and the cost of enforcement. look at the problems people who purchase going businesses and are unable to enforce non-competes have and multiply it by 10, thats what youll have once a model decides to bolt. what you really want as a site operator is a close relative of indentured servitude, which is not legal anymore ;)

yes, you need a good contract. no, chances are it wont help you one bit if the model decides to leave. you need to prequalify them, build a good relationship, keep them very very happy and possibly dangle a carrot such as a lump sum payment or equity (only if she has half a brain). the contract is as good as the model believes it to be - if she thinks you can enforce it, youre golden. if not, your fucked at least to some significant degree.

most solo site operators shoot a very large amount of content up front - that way if the model leaves, theyve still got enough stuff to update the members area with for a year or two. check out what steve from lightspeed has to say on the subject, hes answered similar questions many times here.

#2. Is it common to pay models a percentage of the sites income if you don't have a large sum of money to pay for models up front?
If so, what percentage is fair?
i concur with the previous poster, you need to be very careful here. if you decide to go this route, you need to manage the models expectations very well. tell her to assume shell never see a red cent from the profit sharing, but that in the somewhat improbable case she makes you filthy rich, shell get filthy rich too. all this, however, is a ripe target for litigation - all it takes is for her to get greedy, assume youre shafting her and find a lawyer willing to take the case. regardless of whether you are in the right, youll have to spend tons of money defending the case, open up your books and explain your net profit etc.

#3. Where do many of you find your models? Walking through a mall? From the internet?
aaronm has a good article on this on kblogger.

#4. What sort of problems do you run into when dealing with models when developing sites for them?
theyre women and, if youre going tor a teen market, immature women. this means, chauvinistically speaking, that you will likely have every problem possible and then some ;)

hey webkoj. so im somewhat new into this as well, so im totally not someone to throw around advice, but being considered a 'newbie' as well, i can tell ya, dont get pissed about people who you think are trying to be dicks....theyre all dicks...they make money selling porn, it gives everyone an ego. so whether hes trying to be a dick or not (which hes probably not, hes just seen this question a billion times), take what is said and re-read it in a calm manner. ive found that if i take all the harrassment i get and read it positively, it turns out to help.

as for a lawyer, call robert! i was referred to him by spunky of spunkycash (katesplayground, puredee, etc), go to adultlaw.com. hes awesome, he can work over the phone too, but he is $250 an hour (rounded up to the nearest 10th), but its worth it. he can answer any questions, and he actually incorporated lightspeed

and with my models, i tell them its a risk, and they know that, so i offer 40% of NET profits, with no promises. my contracts suck, but i did them myself, have robert make yours. i go to sleep every night wondering if my model will be around tomorrow but you can avoid that

good luck, calm down and breathe and think of the potential!
