Tricking out a hummer though defeats the purpose of having one. They are supposed to be rugged strong machines. Not show cars IMO.

i'd take a cruiser over a hummer any day (for similar reasons i bought 4 pinzgauers while running that company and turned them into tour vehicles - high ground clearance, 4 cyl air-cooled 90hp engines - will climb anything, you may have to worry about the carb choking out on a super steep climb, that's about it), i was just pointing out that the picture vehicle isn't a hummer, and the term h1 only came about when the h2 was created. hummers may be heavy but being able to automatically inflate and deflate your tires and a system that negotiates terrain for you makes offroad driving a breeze. my biggest complaint about hummers offroad is that there isn't much fun involved in them if you're at all experienced offroad because they do everything themselves.

I like the H2 and was surprised that it wasn't a gas guzzler like everyone seems to think that it is. My only complaint about the thing is the blind spot and the suspension..otherwise I dig my H2!

I've had the H1 and the H2, and the H2 is a much better all around SUV to have. If you live on a 500 acre ranch and never go on the interstate, then the H1 would be ideal, but if you just take moderate weekend offroad trips and still want a comfortable onroad vehicle then its hard to beat the H2 at that role, which is what it was designed for. But for some reason its surprisingly hard to get most people to understand that.Comment

Its funny I dont think most people buy H2s to take them offroad. Its just a big SUV to drive around town and look down on other vehicles. The people that fall for the hype of its capabilities from the commercials they see on tv are sad. Where I live I dont need to drive over bolders n shit.

H2's are mostly bought and ooooed and ahhh-ed for being great looking street rides, not off road rides.
With that said, I think the H2 in the pics looks sweeet..
Been trying to convince my wife for a year now to get one. Safe ride for the upcoming baby. She hates em.. Even with Rims.
