The U.S has free health care. It's called charity hospitals. The problem is, people don't want to wait to see a doctor in a charity hospital. So, they complain that they can't afford to go to a private one. Yes, charity hospitals have long waits, but from what I have heard, it is no different in Canada. Insurance is fairly cheap. I have a great health plan, and it costs me less than $150.00 per month.

My mom lives paycheck to paycheck. She found a lump in her breast. She went to charity hospital to have it checked. They immediately did everything that needed to be done. Lumpectomy, and lymph node removal and testing revealed it was indeed breast cancer. They immediately started radiation treatment. After all is said and done, my mom has been cancer free and healthy for 8 years. She had a lymph node swell again 2 months ago. They did all testing immediately (again) and determined it was not cancer this time. She has mammograms twice a year to make sure all is well. Her total cost = $0.00

As for Canada, you can call it "free healthcare", but in reality it is not free at all. Everyone pays for that healthcare. That means, if I never use it, I am paying for everyone else to use it. How is that "free" to me??

Heh, no doubt that people got lazy and now take advantage of the system and force the taxes higher to pay for them.... the system is now broken.

But the reasoning behind it in the beginning was there, as there are still a lot of people who simply can't do it, and not because they're lazy.

That's all I'm saying. To cut all support dry to spite the ones who are lazy isn't fair to those who truly have a good reason to need it.

I don't mind my taxes going to those who truly need it and have no means to do it themselves. The lazy people need to be kicked out the door and given jobs instead of money.

You whine that you don't want to pay for other peoples problems but you're all for liberating the people of Iraq. Fucking ass hypocrites. What you don't realize is that you pay regardless and its more than if there was a national health system. People with no health care do not get regular checkups, and when problems do develop they wait until finally they have no choice but to go to a govt subsidized hospital and the cost ends up being far higher than if they caught the problem in the beginning. Guess who pays for that? Us taxpayers. You're still paying for it but you're to damn stupid to realize it.

He found out that he had bone cancer. Sorry, but I lived under universal health care in the UK, and in Australia, and I'll take the US system ANYTIME. I don't think that people without health insurance are lazy, I just think that they don't make it a priority and they choose to spend their money elsewhere.... and this coming from someone that at one point was completely homeless and built myself up with no ones help. As for your friend that died, I know plenty that died just WAITING for care under universal health care systems. Look at how bad the government is about spending our money as it is.... Sorry, but I lived under universal health care in the UK, and in Australia, and I'll take the US system ANYTIME. I don't think that people without health insurance are lazy, I just think that they don't make it a priority and they choose to spend their money elsewhere.... and this coming from someone that at one point was completely homeless and built myself up with no ones help. As for your friend that died, I know plenty that died just WAITING for care under universal health care systems. Look at how bad the government is about spending our money as it is.... You want to give them MORE money and power to play with?

I'd appreciate it if I was given a choice, which is why I hope our system is privatized (so long as the Liberals have not part, otherwise they'll fuck it up even more).

I know people that go to the fricken doctor for every little thing: head & tummy aches, sunburn, mosquito bites and yadda-yadda. Breeding hypochondriacs we are.
