For two, get your mom a tennis bracelet...maybe a pearl necklace, gold bracelet, diamond ring and/or earrings.....A gift certificate to her favorite store, a DVD player if she doesn't have one, etc...all kinds of things can be stuck in a gift basket.

I've NEVER bought a gift for my ex-wife's mother, back when we were dating, to when we were married, to now...And I never will....I just don't make it a practice to give gifts to another woman's mother.
