Your doctor always has whole bunch of samples of xanax. Trust me I know so because my dad is a shrink too. Your doctor should have just given you samples until the renewal of your prescription came up. Those pharmaceutical reps give a lot samples and wine and dine the docs, the least he can do is give you the samples he gets for free.
I know this because I worked in the medical field and my parents are doctors.

I know this has happened to me before where my doc has changed dosage to get me more pills on script and insurance refused. I called my pharmicist and asked her what she had done to get it thru to over ride it. She said that you can't just put it thru on the computer system, the insurance will kick it out. You have to call the prescription hotline number that the pharmicist has for that insurance and talk to a live person and get a manual over ride explaining that the dosage has changed and it will go thru.

Have your doctor call in the in the script. Seems that you are on the list of doctor shopping, if not your shrink can get your meds. Good luck

I remember once I washed my Xanies, I called my shrink and he said he would put the call in and just show the pharmacist the laundry bottle...insurance had no problem refilling it and never asked to see the washed bottle
