Ya do not think people want adult entertainment?
People Want Adult, they gladly pay for it, especially a quality service.
They will goto credit companies that transact it.
How could that not occur?
Tell me something Mark, when some new alternative to Paypal pops up, how quick are you to sign up for it?
You are out of your mind if you think some surfer is going to sign up to some new company he never heard of before and give out confidential banking info just so he can look at porn.
Did you forget that there are things like TGP's and freesites out there?
Connor what I am saying is if monies for .xxx generated from purchases went to a lobby the adult industry would be able to easily defend itself and advance into the places it deserves to.
I have to ask . . . why in the world do you think that would happen?
Whats the "Small Minority" of board members?
We need more seats then thats all...
Unless of course that Small Minority is persuasive or enough to get what this industry needs from .xxx.
You need to read . . . only 1 (or 2 tops) seat(s) will be respresentative of the industry. THat is a given. They have no incentive to give us more.
Your kidding yourself if ya think the industry can continue to survive the way it is going right now.
Honest business has to contend with illicit people that damage the industry in many places. We goto protect ourselves from that as well and by doing so we save the mainstream alot of grief.
Transactions solutions providers always changing.
Visa changing.
Aggressive Law Makers comming in.
How long can it last down this road?
.
And you genuinely think that going to .xxx is going to change any of that?
Alien I used to think you had a clue and enjoyed reading some of your more subdued posts but this time - mate you're off in la la land.
Well its a bunk deal and IFFOR can look forward to failing.
1 seat huh?
Who is it?
WHOaaahh wait wait wait.... YOU had the fucking *AUDACITY* to tell ME to educate MYSELF.. and I QUOTE:
"DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FORMULATE YOUR OWN OPINION. I do not think ya have read the details.
Do not claim you have.
When obviously you have not. "
You have the fucking GALL to fucking belittle my understanding of the situation and you DIDN'T even know THIS??? Have you even *looked* at the organisational flowchart?!?! You fucking total cocksucker. I've looked through the charts.. I've read their proposals, I've looked through the public submissions and suggestions I've looked into their company. I only spent a few hours.. You actually had me believing you had done some sort of rudimentary investigation to form your beliefs. So I didn't go on about how much i'd looked into it as a few hours isn't heaps.. I think there was even a fucking gfy thread about there being only one industry representative for fucks sake.. You don't know ANYTHING and you had the fucking balls to tell me "i have obviously not read the details".
I've never really had a go at you Alien.. only some light fucking around like i would anyone, I don't know why. Maybe i had some kind of soft spot for you.
But that has officially evaporated.. you truly don't know what the fuck you're talking about and just like the sound of your own voice.. thanks for doing me a favour and proving you're not worth any respect i may have had for you. Shut the fuck up and leave this shit to the people that know what they're talking about and actually do some design work.

I am glad you have finally caught up...
Now read what I am saying.
This version of .xxx can be changed or it can be stopped. Its looking like it wont be stopped by us, but by our government Commerce Department.
I never noticed in all these flow charts that there was any seat in the IFFOR with an actual adult representative. What I have read is they are all mainstream guys. So what source are looking through?
We can face the laws unorganised or we can face them together, but with no epicenter in place we are no better than feudalists to take apart by a more organised power.
2257 is one piece, .xxx can be a piece that we can use to empower ourselves.
I do not think there is so much to fear if such a conduit that pools finances together is made and I for one think that .xxx can be such a conduit.
Maybe not this time around but maybe later but the sooner we get together and do it we are still on square one while the Laws are free to pick us off.
Its quite a problem.
This fantasy world you live in is starting to scare me dude.
There is no way in hell VIsa/Mastercard would walk away from our money.
Impossible.
Banks, I can imagine SOME/FEW banks may shy away from it but thats elementary people will get credit cards through banks that will.
Hmmmm. Let me try to approach it this way.
I've known many a church to have "Bingo" nights, even "Vegas" style carnivals.
I've never known a chuch to have a content party, or a wet t-shirt contest.
Most major banking institutions in the US will not allow you to use your card for "online gambling" for various reasons. Due to the limited number ( compared to adult sites) it has been fairly easy for them to "adopt a policy" against these transactions.
The reason these sites survive is they are not as much of an impulse purchase.
Walk down your street tomorrow and poll a few people and ask them what is a larger problem gambling or porn . Or better yet ask them if they registered and voted then ask that question.
If they can do it to gambling they can do it to us if we are in a neat package.
OH and I'm just about tired of us as an industry thinking we make the CC companies SOOOOOOOOO much money. In reality we don't .As an industry we are in their top 5 for biggest headache, and no where near that for profit. Stop kidding yourself. If our numbers go to shit, Visa would not blink.
and the better portion of our customers are NOT going to a 3rd party so they can view porn. It's just a Fact.
Well Alien wasn't paying much attention to you - I had hoped that maybe he thought more of Fantasyman - I thought the nick might resonate with someone living in a dream world.

Yet sadly so many people just assume we are without having any clue as to the real figures involved.
I am not sure what is funnier, the idea that Visa/Mastercard needs us, or the idea that the massive unemployment and reduced taxable income will shake up the government so they start supporting the industry.
Could it be the fraud involved with transactions over the years or is it the porn?
My bet is that it resides in the fraud this industry has incurred over the years.
How can this industry combat fraud from not only schemming webmasters but schemming surfers as well?
Where is money going to come from to halt or slow that down?
We aint got shit for that do we?
Whats stopping Visa now from doing the same thing?
Fuck all with .xxx altogether. Whats stopping Visa right now from deciding that?
Ya think .xxx is a factor at all in your scenerio?
I doubt it.
Mark, I think you are misunderstanding me.
visa has set their guidelines. If we follow them they process for us.
As an industry we are a headache.
If our transactions decreased as an industry, Visa would not shed a tear.
If banking institutions had the ability to block our transactions easily and did so visa would not care. That is one less chargeback to handle, one less customer complaint to deal with.
.xxx makes that a very easy task. That is my point.
Visa is not making its decisions because we are "Sick little perverts" its a matter of money. Over the years Processors been abused, surfers been abused, Program owners been abused and nothing has come forward to slow it down or halt it.
Now take my dreamworld..
Just for a second.
5000 .xxx Domains moving money to combat fraud, combat law makers, and regulate a practices code for adult companies within .xxx.
Within that bubble we gain alot.
We gain the surfers confidence back, we get the tools in place properly funded to combat fraud on a a couple sides.
.xxx will make alot of money, a whole lot and that money moved to benefit this industry and regulate it will insure our progress.
Right now we all are riding at the whim with an uncontrolled destiny with a headstone that reads Out of business.
I support .xxx. I believe it would level the playing field. Companies must contend with subversive webmasters and elements that defame the industry as a whole.
Yes because no one will see .XXX sites.
Policy decisions could at a stroke make all Web sites ending in a specific suffix essentially unreachable.
So baically the US Commerce Department can allow .XXX to exist then the US can pass legislation making all adult sites( at least those based in the US ) move to .XXX then they can block .XXX sites from being seen ANYWHERE.

And this is good why?
Because it defeats the purpose at any rate.
They wanna go through that effort they may as well just stop adult on the .coms also. Hitler died already bro, fascism is back but its not stupid.
"According to an Associated Press report, the United States Commerce Department has reversed course over previous promises to eventually relinquish authority over computers that control traffic on the internet, and now claims it will maintain control over the computers and the master list of top-level domain name extensions for the indefinite future"

You posts made zero sense. Try using english. Anyway, the US can block .xxx the US can not block .coms. They could, but that would be stupid to block all .coms.

You post didnt make sense either.
Are you saying ISP and various folks will block .xxx?
THey can block it now, one at a time dont kid yourself.
Problem is as discussed earlier in this thread blocking .xxx would only hurt the ISP's that choose to do so.
PEOPLE LOVE PORN!
THey love what we do...
They will get it through different carriers.
Remember the DIAL up wars? Prodigy, AOL, EarthLink?
Why did some fall off and other succeed? They delivered what there Subscribers fucken wanted.
This industry cried all about .xxx whined and whined and now its fucken toast.
Hell even the the Christian groups and shit knew we would have a shot at justifying ourselves as an industry.

Really this is GOFuckYourself at its finest.
Did I miss something?? is .xxx dead and no one told me?

PORN.
No the GOVERNMENT you ninny. Can you not READ. The government can block a WHOLE domain root. Such as .xxx.
READ carefully
The computers in question serve as the Internet's master directories and tell Web browsers and e-mail programs how to direct traffic. Internet users around the world interact with them every day, likely without knowing it. Policy decisions could at a stroke make all Web sites ending in a specific suffix essentially unreachable.
In other words since the US government CONTROLLS those servers they can say "Oh well .xxx isn't getting seen by ANYONE."
Right now if the government wanted to block porn sites they have to do it an INDIVIDUAL basis which is pointless. By allowing the .xxx to exist then forcing adult sites to .xxx the government can basically block all porn by blocking .xxx.

They are not going to funnel money from xxx back into adult. What is it going to take to get that thru your thick skull?
What is their incentive for doing that? Just one will do.
Welp.........
I am glad that everyone is getting a taste of just what this .XXX is. I am not sure what planet Alien is on today, but if he does notice he is not making much of a case to promote .XXX. Here is the bottom line and it?s so fucked, and sickening.
The people that supported this that are supposed to be leading out industry sold us out to the Govt. That is right the right price came along to make a deal with the Devil/Govt.
I am all for someone making a buck or two here and there, that is what our country is founded on, but this British biz man and his spoiled rich kid rep, have packaged this .XXX to "help in the fight against child porn" Every time I hear or see that I have a number of feeling flow throw me, all not good ones.
There is nothing good that is coming from this .XXX, in fact it?s much worse than the 2257. I am speaking on the panel at the Florida Internext show about .XXX and I will be sitting next to Stuart the founder of this fucked up piece of shit.
I don?t know what to say except those who support this .XXX shame on you fuckers, this is going to end our industry and put us in a place that we all just can?t imagine. All those who are listed as supporters and those now that openly support this .XXX we should not do any biz with them period.
FUCK .XXX AND ALL THAT SUPPORT IT........................... I hope that the FSC takes this on and makes it just go away...we spent our money and have reached out to them to make the case that this should be something they need to take very seriously.
I don't understand why AlienQ is for this unless he's getting domains out of this or something else. The people that cause the problems are going to do it with or without .XXX (either on a .com or on a .xxx throwaway domain) so why would it do any good to move domains somewhere that makes it really easy to filter.
I think AlienQ is also forgeting that wives will wonder why the husband doesn't use ISP ABC that promotes itself as unable to view .XXX while he has ISP DEF that allows it.
As far as I know, something like 50%+ of our traffic is college age &married men.
Will porn die because of .XXX no, but i think the deal with Visa they are getting at is that if we are on .XXX and it does get blocked by colleges and wives more, that say we do 5 billion a year now, we drop to 2 billion and Visa could decide that 2 billion isn't enough volume and just say bye bye.
Other then Lensman and AlienQ and ASACP, who else is for .XXX ?
"NEW YORK - The United States Commerce Department on Thursday reasserted its veto power over all internet domain name extensions approved by ICANN, and therefore has the authority to reject the dot-xxx domain name extension should ICANN attempt to put it into play later this year, YNOT has learned."

Thats whats happened.
.xxx is already toast.
Please goto Page one.
WHY are you repeating yourself? We've all read this.
Nice read Connor, i know you guys have worked very hard to spead the word and alert the correct parties to this issue. I hope what I read is true and they do step in, what a surprise that would be.
As for those who support .XXX ....FUCK YOU.
I dont like anybody telling me I have to pay sixty bucks for a domain name, already did that back in the day, we have come to far to have this now.
One voice is needed for our industry, made up of a group of folks the will never ever let shit like this float or even be considered to be brought in.

Yup I agree.
And .XXX is one such opportunity to do so.
Again I repeat: Maybe this deal is not good, maybe this deal can be changed, maybe this deal with .xxx is not so bad if DONE RIGHT!
