is there anything I can do to make it go faster? does anyone have any tips or do i have to call comcast and pay more money to get faster upload speeds?
comcast's upload speed is restricted to 30kb/s that sucks

I have a 'broadband' satellite because there's no real broadband in my area and the bastards cap my bandwidth down to NOTHING after I have 22 TCP connections open
I'm talking 0.08kb/sec upstream!
I have a second house I am getting cable at on Saturday. I can't take this anymore

Comcasts business service has been very good to us, since were in a industrial building and not many people use it in the building we get blazing speeds. I guess it also helps that our hosting company is in the same Datacenter that comcasts infrastructure is in.Comment

Well, there is a specific reason for that. Cable shares the line with your surrounding neighbors so if some dickweed runs a server or something then everyone is slow....with all the P2P stuff going on its especially important...
...For those that want good downstream AND upstream....DSL is the only way to go for the home user. Right now Qwest DSL in Seattle is offering 5Mbps upstream and downstream for 50 bucks a month. So thats about 400KBps up and downComment

ONe of the tradeoffs between cable and DSL. Sure cable is faster on the download side. But when it comes to uploads ive almost always gotten the stated 200-300 K. On cable I never got above 100 and hardly ever got that..... Usually between 50 and 75 K. Ill take my DSL. Mainly cause its the only broadband here other than satelite.Comment

we dealt with that same shit for like two years. It sucked major ass. If you live in an area that is flat, you may be able to find someone that offers radio. I have it, and it is kick ass. I have up 1mbps and down about 4. The area I live in has hills, but not trees on the hills. So the antenna is about 10 feet, and on top of my house. We pay 90$ a month, and have 5 static ip's. And get fet 15 more.Originally posted by Furious_FemaleI have a 'broadband' satellite because there's no real broadband in my area and the bastards cap my bandwidth down to NOTHING after I have 22 TCP connections open

You and I have the same opinion a lot. Every jerkoff that gives me that DSL is better line has internet much slower than my cable.Originally posted by KimmykimDSL sucks.Comment

DSL isn't an option for me because I'm so far away from the nearest central office (18,000 feet) that without repeaters the connectivity would be terrible. My brother had qwest dsl and could never get decent speeds and he was very near the hub.Originally posted by BlueWireWell, there is a specific reason for that.
