I never thought I'd see people compare Peter Jackson to Speilberg. This is the same Peter Jackson who made Bad Taste. In fact, I wish he was still making those movies.

you just know PJ loves the old splatter movies he made........just watch the Extended Edition of "LOTR: Return of the King".........its twice as violent as the theatrical version........limbs strewn everywhere on the battlefield.......more decapitations........PJ loves the horror movies

i have seen Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles and especially Brain Dead a ton of times and was a huge PJ fan already at that time. When I read that he was going to do LOTR we all thought that this might be a bit too much for him - but he did a fantastic job. And I'm very confident that KK will be huge too - he's one of the best directors ever in my eyes. I'd just wish he did some real good splatter movie again.

LOTR proves he's at the top of the heap, I agree.........and you'll get your wish.........he plans on doing next "The Lovely Bones", a movie based on the book of a rape and murder of a teen girl who views the earth from heaven (supposed to be a powerful book but I haven't read it)......BUT........after that, he plans on doing a zombie splatter movie. However, too many zombie movies have been made in the past few years imo; its getting boring. I think if the two studios struggling over "The Hobbit" rights get their act together, he should do that one. Who else but him to do "The Hobbit"?
Damn that looks like a freaky movie... Though I don't remember seeing dinosours in the origanal one. looks really dark and the ppl in there look like they are dead what is with that? Jack black is a good actor I have liked him in everything that I have seen him in I am looking forward to seeing this one.

thats right - he should definitely do "The Hobbit" - i'd love to see that. and i must admit that i didn't read any of those books (LOTR/Hobbit) before I saw the first movie - and only after reading The Hobbit i really understood the full story. that alone is a reason why that movie should be done.

the real reason it will get done? because it'll gross around $1 Billion worldwide, just like the other LOTR movies did seperately......
all these questions about the dinosaurs.. has anyone here actually read the book?
King Kong lives on Skeleton Island, on Skeleton Island there are dinosaurs, huge creatures etc, it's part of the storyline, and true to his form, PJ seems to be keeping the original story and using it (makes a change in Hollywood!)
Such a tragic love story, this is gonna be a great movie I reckon.

looks ok, but wtf is wrong with hollywood these days.. that they can't come up with anything orginal. Every damn movie that comes out of there is a remake of some other movie or a damn super hero comic book movie.
WTF happened to orginal pictures?
True, true.
Herbie The Love Bug, Dukes of Hazzard, Bad News Bears .. the list goes on an on. They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel these days.

Thanks for the link
I second that.. They went a bit overboard.. with all the creatures... Is like a Jurassic Park meets planet of the apes.
And I thought it would be weird to mention it here! I loved that trailer. Love that it's set in the 1930's and it totally pays homage to the origianl with the same character names, the dialouge and I love the romance (yes romance) Adrian Brody running through the city to save Ann!
bump for GregB..........saw you mention the trailer in your post of War of the Worlds, which I too say tonite...............the trailer for Kong is at the beginning of this thread.............one of the most effective trailers made in a long long time imo............
