Is it just me, or have I been seeing "This is the Peak Oil Year!!" articles for like 15 years now?

I have been reading it for 20 minutes.
Alot of truth without a radical agenda.
I am glad I own VLO and RDC.

      "
Big deal. If gas prices get high, I?ll just drive less. Why should I give a damn?"
Because petrochemicals are key components to much more than just the gas in your car. As geologist Dale Allen Pfeiffer points out in his article entitled, "Eating Fossil Fuels," approximately 10 calories of fossil fuels are required to produce every 1 calorie of food eaten in the US."

I think it might just be you... can you mention at least one? And even still, the article is about AFTER peak oil.

It is my opinion that we are at least 50 years away from any "crisis". Technology is changing drilling results.

I am holding VLO, RDC, and MUR for the long term. Prices will stay high due to the fact that demand will only increase.

China is basically going through the industrial revolution.

yeah, looks like about 16 years I've been hearing this...

"The Hubbert peak theory, also known as peak oil, is an influential theory concerning the long-term rate of conventional oil and other fossil fuels extraction and depletion. It predicts that future world oil production will soon reach a peak and then rapidly decline. The actual peak year will only be known after it has passed. Based on available production data, proponents have predicted the peak years to be 1989, 1995, 1995-2000, or, according to one influential group, 2007 for oil and somewhat later for natural gas. This may lead to either minor economic or major catastrophic consequences for the world since modern civilization is dependent on cheap and abundant fossil fuels, especially for transportation."

Okay so fryer oil will power 0.01% of cars... what about the 60% of products made from oil that don't involve transportation? Shit, I drive a bio diesel car everyday! That could never be the answer for the whole population.. you want to cover the entire North America with soy beans or something?

Look around your room right now and name three things that do not contain byproducts of petroleum.

Good ideas, of course, but unfortunately we still don't know how to make solar panels without using oil.

That could kick us in the ass, yeah?

Almost everything we use involves petroleum. Gasoline is just part of the equation.

my ex-husband was using bio-deisel, and there is some regular deisel in it, i believe.

on the other hand, solar power is more viable than people think. the people who talk about it are called "cranks" by the administration, but consider who the administration is for a minute.

clinton looked into solar power a lot, and other alternative sources of power. the whole foods i shop at uses a lot of solar power, and you can't tell the difference.

we will move to nuclear plants and natural gas short term.. we will need nuclear to handle the inefficiencies in hydrogen fuel cell and other related battery technology in the panic switch.. Australia has 30% of the worlds Uranium, a shit load of natural gas and a bunch of oil under the barrier reef and the timor sea.. I expect us to be liberated at some point.
In the longer term we will develop renewable resources but we will only do it when absolutely forced so there will be considerable amounts of shit.. no politician is going to put the budget in deficit several billion dollars for tidal, wind, solar and geothermal power when the only thing they've got to worry about is the next 4 years and getting re-elected. Only when it's obvious to everyone and effects votes will things change and by then it will be too late for a nice easy transition.
