Okay this has been debated on other threads so I won't spend all day debating it I'll just point out something that those of you who think this kind of abuse is okay are neglecting to consider.
These people will some day get out.
Prison is supposed to be about punishement and rehabiliation or it should be.
What we have now are breeding grounds for monsters. I won't cite the article because it's been a long damn time now. But they article had stated that once someone has served *the number they used* 3 terms they are by that time a sexual offender.
They may not have been before, but they are now. Prison turns them into one because they either rape or get raped...and once they get raped enough they then lash out against a weaker victim whether that is in prison or out in the free world.
So with that in mind, why would you want to send a guy to a place that each and every time he visits it he becomes more and more dangerous so when he does get out the potential for the severity of the crime increases?

When I see this video, I think the point is to show that the Iraqi prison "scandals" shouldn't be considered so shocking in light of what happens back in America. I also am open-minded enough to know that this documentary could have been filmed in just about any country. It would be naive to think that America is the only country with an abusive policy towards prisoners. This crap happens all around the world.
So why not a documentary about Russian, Chinese, Bolivian or Pakistani prisons? It wouldn't likely get enough viewers to bother airing it.Comment

No, not common at all, at least in the three places I've worked. The inmates in those videos probably represent 0.1% of the total population. Truth is most inmates don't get raped and most don't get abused and the vast majority just want to do their time and go home. Most of the time you sit around on your ass and do nothing at all until a code is called. Then there's work to do.
