And think about this: If it just isnt right to fly something that someone built in thier backyard, the airplane never would have been invented in the first place. Btw, my shop in Texas was bigger than most people's large homes, I didnt just throw things together in my backyard. And the thing that got me into kitplanes is that I could do my own maintenace and repairs on them, versus having to have an FAA certified airframe & powerplant guy (what a joke) work on my plane. This goes back to trusting my own work more than somebody else.
I make alot of money and have a short attention span, so yes the planes got old. The sportscars got old. Skydiving got old. Racing karts, sprint cars, and IMCA Modifieds got old. The 4x4 vehicles got old. The jetskis got old. The RC cars & planes got old. The only hobby I've had since I was 10 years old and stuck with is motorcycles, for some reason they never get old to me.
Paying hangar fees, getting flight physicals (being an ex air traffic controller, I've been getting flight physicals for YEARS), bi-annual flight reviews, annual inspections, staying current, keeping logs, filing flight plans, checking weather, cross country trip planning, having to let someone else work on plane and pay thier stupid high prices, renting a car at your destination, and all the other airplane ownership and pilot crap just wasnt worth the trouble to me to keep flying, I just dont think its that much fun. I'd rather hop on a nice touring motorcycle and take the backroads and hiways to my destination, I'm in no hurry to get there anyway.
