Good luck with that.. My gf has an Ion and it's nothing but problems. In fact it's the most problematic car I've ever seen. Worse than a Ford.
They have a special electric transamission, it doesn't shift gear but glides from one gear to another almost as if the tranny is slipping. The transmissions were so bad that they added an extra 40,000 mile warranty to it. So far the transmission was replaced twice, 4 speed sensors, 2 cd players, 6 speakers, and few other things I forgot.
I seriously hope your car is more reliable than this car. I feel really bad for her b/c she's always had old problematic cars, and this car is just as bad. The warranty just ran out. She surprised me and came home with it one day, otherwise I would have had her by a Hondaor Nissan.

My next vehicle is going to be one that isn't so low to the ground and one that has plastic panels like the Saturn Vue in the areas that usuaslly suffer the most damage. I mentioned earlier it was the Relay I was looking into, but I got the names mixed up, it's the Vue I am interested in.Comment

Congrats on the car. But if you're looking to stay conservative with a new family don't buy new. Buy a luxury or semi luxury car two to three years old. Certified Pre-owned often can extend the warranty to 100k. Let someone else take the depreciation which is significant on almost any new car. I've seen one year old Mercedes-Benzes sell for $25k less than new with 10k miles and a 100k warranty. That puts the price in line with many mid sized new domestics and Japanese Imports.You deserve to make more money. I'll help you do that.
