Whats wrong with christians? Are they all crazy?

Ok. I was born and raised in a christian family so I have the right to talk shit about my own. I have a lot of friends that are black and mexican that are either catholic or something other than Christian and most of them are very invlolved in their church. They never claim to be perfect, they almost never preach the word of god or anything like that. They just keep to themselves and act like a normal human being for the most part. From what I know they all drink less, get divorced less, smoke less, do less drugs, have better families, etc... They still do bad things but they will admit it and go on with their lives.

Now the Christians. (My crazy family, from San Diego to New York)

They all act so fucking fake (especially at church) that it makes me sick. They talk about how bad abortions are and then a month later their pregnant and having an abortion and lie to the whole family about it. They always are talking shit about other people behind each others backs. They think anybody that doesnt have the same mind set as them is crazy and going to go to hell. They will spend there whole lives in missery because they have to hide everytime they want to do something like drink, smoke etc.... I also think white families whom make up the majority of the Christians have the worst family relationships I have ever seen. My ex left me because she said GOD wants her to do better. That I was going to go to hell and live a miserable life if I did not change my ways (I wasnt even in the porn biz at the time) She also stopped talking to all her friends for pretty much the same reason. Before me she broke up with her boyfriend because her mom would not let her date a Jewish guy. I always here of all these weird killers saying GOD told them to do it (there always white christians) As you can see I can go on and on about this. I just had to vent after having to deal with some family today.

    Preach on, my brother.

Christians, especially Born-agains, have become one of the most fucked-up groups in the world. I truly fear the insanity that they are breeding.

Strange also what you mentioned about Catholics ... strange but true. They don't bother me much at all, but the self-righteous Christians literally make my skin crawl. Gives me the overwhelming feeling that something truly evil is going on there ....

The bible is not all bad.

If you're looking for it, you can read that book and see which parts were written with Godly intent / inspiration, and which were designed to control and manipulate the masses.

The sad thing is that the new Christian message is not about LOVE at all, it's all about fear and anger. If the focus of Christianity was on mimicking the Love, Compassion, and Acceptance that Jesus showed through his actions, I just might sign up. As it is, I won't touch that blasphemy with a 40 foot black penis.

Are you classified catholics different than chirstians?

Catholics are the loudest anti-abortion and anti-birth control group on the planet.

Yes, but in this day and age, those who consider themselves Catholics are a whole different breed than those who consider themselves Christians.

              At least in my experience

There are almost as many different Christian philosophies as there are Christians. I think you are discussing a Hypocritical fundamentalist evangelical group here.

Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Catholic. Anyway, I do not want to argue with what you people here are saying.. coz I respect all your opinion.. religion is such a touchy matter to discuss.. I'll juz read on.. and yes, we(in our country at least) are anti-abortion but that doesn't mean we (again based from our country) despise those who have done it.. as for birth control pills.. that's also a big issue in our Catholic church.. but i think they are losing the battle in our country.. I'm a Catholic but I believe in birth control.... As for our difference or similarity with other Christian religions.. I'd rather not comment.. I'm sure every religion is unique in their own way

I was raised Christian, too, and I've always struggled with what I was taught.

I don't trust any religion that insists it is the only way, that's why I am learning about Wicca now, because it's the only spirituality I've found that is accepting of different beliefs.

and yes Catholics are also chrsitians, think they are even the biggest group world wide.

but yes I understand what you mean

funny in Belgium 95% or so is Catholic and only 3% goes to church, most of us no longer believe but get baptised out of tradition (also lowering) and d their two communions (age 7 en 12) for the family and/or the gifts, but at the same time, when we reach high school and we can follow humanism, we take that instead of religion

myself an atheist (officially I'm still a catholic, damn baptism) am feeling right at home in the most atheist city in the world (90% atheists): wonderful and beautiful Prague, were crime is at an unusual low rate, ask any american who has lived here for a while (funny was talking about that in a bar last night with some americans )

religions are primarily a tool of control by those who are in power, when has religion ever brought peace? (buddhism btw isn't a real religion, more a way of life)

I read the Holy Bible, I have read the Satanic Bible and I have read cat in the hat. They are all books of Fantasy that I enjoyed but I don't base my life on any of them. There is good in some of them and Bad in all of them but mostly they are just lessons to help you lead a better life.

That is the exact purpose of the bible. It is not to be taken literal. Only the fundamentalists groups take the bible litterally.

That is a good test to see which religions are "wacky".

I'm not calling catholics fundamentalists, but in my opinion i believe many religions came from catholics who didn't like the literal rituals involved in being a catholic.

I'm sure a steadfast belief in an imaginary friend is related to schitzophrenia and psychosis. And I dont know what to make of the ones that tongue jibberish or the ones that flop around on the floor in convulsions.

I would say, yeah all Christians are crazy.

Sorry I didnt read your post, too many words at one time scare me.

I did see something about fanatics or holier than thou attitudes and must agree.

Let me first state that I am a christian, a non practicing christian, yet a christian still the same. As an adult, I have only been to church for worship maybe 5 times in 26 years. I believe in God and the devil, I belive in Heaven and Hell, I say my prayers every night when I go to bed, and I try to be a good person. The only regrets I have is not sending my children to church to learn about God and Jesus, and not reading the bible. I also keep my thoughts and beliefs to myself. Thats where it ends for me. I dont believe you have to go to church to be a christian. Not going, does not make you a bad person, and I am pretty sure God wont hold it against me.

I am the type of christian that I can handle.

The type I can NOT handle is,

The ones like the parents I use to have at my day care. Very snobby people. Extremely rude, arrogent, better than you jackasses. Not only do they sicken me, they also confuse me to know end. Isnt being a christian suppose to make you a good person? The extreme christian I just described wont even let non christans children play with their own kids.

The types I can tolorate are the people who come door to door. I know they are annoying but they dont stay long if you dont give them a chance.

The other type I can tolorate is the kind hearted friend, neighbor, or family memeber who always trys to get you to "accept Christ into your life". These people truely do mean well, and only believe they are helping you get a better life.

Now for the one million dollar question.

If I am a christian, why am I doing porn? My God is a forgiving God. I really do not believe what Im doing will keep me out of heaven. As long as I am a good person, dont kill anyone, or screw up and do something really really bad. God will look the other way.

You have to understand that these people believe that there exists some omnipotent deity dude. And that this dude gives a rat's ass about them, and their tribe, but not about anyone else.

Absolute craziness. And it goes downhill fast from there.

They have some books of myths... and they believe that they are true?????

I just can't believe what some people believe.

GiantGnome and other 'lukewarm' christians.. you either believe in the bible and follow it's commands or you don't. If you don't, you're NOT a christian. You're just some guy with fuzzy ideas about some guy in the clouds.

The bible is very clear and specific: Do these things, DON'T do these other things, or you will not live forever with God in Heaven. The thing is, it's the fundamentalists who have it right. They actually practice Christianity as God commands it to be done.

I'm NOT a christian, I don't believe in God, and I hate them all just in case this post confuses anyone.

now, that's funny, here in Europe we tend to give psychriatic help to people who say they're speaking to god

amen to that, get religion out of politics, it only leads to misery and abuse (for reference see European history for the last 1500 years), politicians shouldn't be talking about god and how he supports their policy, thank god they never dare to do that in Belgium, not even the Christian/Catholic party
