I know a guy pretty well who got involved in a grow op. They had a house rigged up nicely. 8 HUGE plants, producing about 3-4 pounds per plant.
Thats 24 pounds minimum. These guys were paid out at $800 or $900 per pound - I cant remember really. They definitely were NOT getting rich off this. Especially since they shared the profits between 4 people.. and they paid a shitload of cash out upfront for expenses..
But where does that 6 billion figure come from? Thats like 1.5 MILLION pounds of weed sold at $4000 per pound... no way.Comment

Hell Ya..We smuggle it across the border and sell it to the yanks between 5 to 6 k per pound ! Primo BC BUD.The cops cant keep up with the grow ops here.They closed 60 last week and thats just a small small percentage.They even have commercials advertising Grow Op equipment it is so lucrative. The average fine if you get busted is like between 1 and 3 k...shit you make that on 1 plant alone..Telling ya...Growing Pot is way more lucrative than porn although you tell no one at all...There is risk from getting your stash and ass kicked by the Angels or some other gang member.. but its ok some one knocks on my door im prepared 
And You have at least 5 Differant Houses to grow in..or move out to the sticks and bury a 40 ft trailer with its own generator.

Measuring the size of an illegal industry is difficult.
Detective Anne Drennan, spokeswoman for the OCA, said the agency's estimates are based on intelligence gathered by police, including information on the number of complaints received by police about growing operations in the community.
The agency estimates there are 15,000 to 20,000 growing operations in the Lower Mainland and a total of 20,000 to 25,000 across B.C.
If the OCA's estimates are correct, that means there is a growing operation in at least one in every 46 homes -- possibly as many as one in every 35.
Emery, for one, thinks the OCA's numbers are too high. He estimates the province's pot trade is worth about $4 billion, not $6 billion, and estimates about 60,000 people are employed full-time in the pot trade.

these 8 plants produce way more and much higher quality then some of the ops I saw with 100 plus plants... cuz those 100 plus plants sucked cock
literally, the 8 plants filled a 1000 sq foot basement to the brim. it went to the ceiling and was strung out (no pun intended) on wires all over. It was seriously a scientific, hydroponic jungle in that basement. Buds the size of baseball bats, no bs.
And yes, after drying and letting the pickers have their cut, they would get 3-4 pounds of saleable bud per plant. I think they got about $30-$40K per grow (cad funds) and thats it. And as I said, it was split 4 ways...
I loved how for a few days after they picked, they could barely open their eyes cuz they were too stoned. Was very funny.
Strange thing is, I don't really smoke at all... not my thing. I just grew up with these guys.Comment

ya technically its just as plausible to grow weed in the us as in canada...thing is, youll spend a lot more on your electricity bills cuz you need to average 24 degrees in your grow room including plenty fuckin heat generated by them sunmasters...so you need AC to the fullest plus a good air intake and an exhaust. plus you have this 3 strike rule which makes it a lil more dangerous... btw do they sell ballasts lights pro-mix and shit in the states? i figured not cuz tommy chong is in prison for selling bongs on ebay but i might be wrong?
