Let me tell you something mate.

Moscow isn't a Russia , really , cause 90% of Russain people are not rich and it's true.
But it's a well known fact , that in Moscow live not just rich people, but richest people in the world
and it's also true. There is mor efucking money than in the whole EU not only some particular country, again, it's not a majority of Russians, just few thousands of people (thieves actually)
Yup, Moscow has more billionaires than any other city in the world.
That is true, Moscow is not Russia. People in Moscow live pretty good, average income, is like $300-400/month. But as soon as you go out to other cities, people live like shit. The richest people in Russia got rich when the Soviet Union broke up. They sold all the machinery, parts from old Soviet factories. Like I know this person who sold cables and other wiring materials that contained gold and platinum, he is a millionaire now. All those millioanaires got where they are by scams, murder and through other illegal shit.
Moscow is an expensive, rich city with a lot of atractions(only a few cities can compete with them), cannot be compared to the rest of Russia, because people do really well there.
yeah right, all of a sudden everyone theres a millionair
I know Russia has some unbelievably rich ppl but theyre like 0,00000001% of the total population, so your comment on her comment was even more stupid
RTFM dude... There is a shit load of VERY reach people. I live in Russia and know what I'm talkin about... Just FYI: Only Moscow has more casino's than ALL the EU excepting Monte Carlo. Do you think it's a good idea to have so many casino's in a country where everyone is poor? Just think about it and never say anything regardingthe thinks you have no idea about.
this means squat. even if it's true (which i heavily doubt)
china # 9 on the list? so? people in china live good?
pakistan #32
israel #34
where is the average salary bigger? in israel or in pakistan?
what is the average salary in russia? $100? $200?
that's what counts.
you can't argue with facts. the majority of russians poooooooooooooor
There is no official "average salary" in Russia because most of ppl. are getting their salary in the envelopes. That's a way is used by employers to avoid the taxes. Thus your official salary may be even $100 a month on paper, but your real salary will be a way different... At least I DON'T KNOW a person who earns less than $1000 a month here in Russia (BTW, I have a lot of friends and buddies)... I'm working in the adult industry and my income is a rather good for even the US webmasters, but I can't consider myself as a rich one here... Also keep in mind that even $1000 is a clear profit (you don't have to pay any taxes from it) Furthermore don't forget that we don't have to spend a lot of money for medicine etc. For example, how much it will be to treat a few tooths in the USA? I guess a few thousands bucks. Correct? Here it will be only $100-$200 at all! Or how mush it would be to call an ambulance in the USA? Perhaps something about $1000. Correct? Here in Russia it will cost you exactly NOTHING. The same with education etc...
So the rech countries are those were the ppl. could earn more, but spend less than in others.

I bit wrong again... About 20% of all Russians are living in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg only. But(!!!) there is a lot of other big and rich cities in Russia as well. So just think about the numbers
In fact, Russia has terrifically changed during last 10 years and it still changes very fast. It's not a same country as it was even 5 years ago... The communist regime has been busted and now everything is working and growing here.
P.S. As about SLR. My good friend has it. His brother has a Porche. So what?
Nothing unusual in that pic. I wonder how often you would make that comment if you visit that city for a day. Do you say that when you see a ferrari in LA (oh wait in your case it would be Berlin or Duesseldorf)? You sad woman.
By the way the fact you felt it was so interesting you had to post it, just proves how often you see cars like this in your own home town. You see one of these (and better) on every corner over there.

have you ever been outside of moscow?
i mean, if you live good then good for you. and i know there are many people in russa. specially in moscow and st petersburg, but you cannot compare the quality of life of the average say dutch citizen (i know the name usa hurts many you guys) to the average russian.
Actually I was born 2000km away from Moscow, and I moved to Moscow only a couple of years ago when I was FINANCIALLY ready to move here. So what?

You're talking about Dutch? He-he... I was in Amsterdam about 5 years ago (was working by a contract there as a programmer). So now I know that $2,500 is a good salery for a programmer there (I know some ppl. there who haven't earn even $1000 a month). By the way, do you know any good programmer in Mocsow or SPB who would agree to work for $2,500 a month? Personally I don't know the one... All the programmers I know here earn 1,5..2 times more. And please don't forget that in Russia it's a CLEAR SALARY (no taxes should be paid prom it). But in the Netherlands you have to pay a rather big taxes (more than 30% as far as I remember) from your salary.
BTW, when you were in Moscow for the last time? 10 or 20 years ago?
i believe you that there are amazing cars but the owners belong to a minority group.
70% are poor
All the ppl. in the center of the city (a few milliones I guess) are belong to the mentioned minority group Hey, there is only 150,000,000 ppl. in Russia at al
BTW, you know I'm working in the adult biz. And we're (me, my wife and our 11y.o. son) spending about $1500 a month only on FOOD because I don't like to eat some shit (e.g. mcdonald's etc...) So be sure I have a rather good income comparing to many guys at this board. But(!!!) I don't feel like a rich one here in Moscow because all my friends and relatives here earn much more. They aren't working in the same biz like me, they have their own business or working for various companies (mostly International ones). I feel myself a bit below an average class. I have no a country-house, even have no my own car (actually I just don't need the one but however...)

$2500 a month is a complete joke for a salary here in Holland. Thats bout $800 more then we get as social sec when unemployed. If youre a programmer here and making $2500 or less then youre doing something wrong.

Perhaps now. But 5 years abou it was the right salary. I know that for sure because I'm was working as a programmer my self and I met lots of other programmers there. So may be now the salaries there are bigger. However they are still can not be comparid with the Moscow ones if you taki into account that all salaries in Russia are tax-free (i.e. the taxes were paid out for you by you employer). However the salaries in Netherlands are not tax-free, because YOU (but not your employer) have to pay the taxes. And as far as I know the Dutch taxes are much bigger than taxes here in Russia which is 13% for income tax, or ONLY 6% joint tax for a small business. For instance I'm paying 6% from all my earnings because I'm working for myself.

bull fucking shit
why are you tweaking facts just to make Russia look better? admin it - most of the people here are FUCKING POOR that's fact
I love russia and especially Moscow - great city, but why the fuck lie? you only make other people think that russians are idiots and can't face reality or that russians are blind and will lie just to make their country sound better
face it - most of the people here are POOR , VERY POOR
situation is getting better every year though (esp. Moscow as always) - that's fact that I agree with.

No lie at all. I was working as a programmer and have a lot of friends who are still earning with coding. No one of them has a salary less than $2500 a month. For example, my the salary brother (he is a programmer in some IBM-related company) is $4,5K EURO a month. That's is a fact but not a lie. May be you don't have any friend among programmers, or those "programmers" you know are not the real one (have no appropriate degree or so...) As about lots of poor people... Did you were in the USA? In the NY for instance?.. Just walk a few quarters away from Manhattan and look around... And what's about the US majority who lives outside of the big cities (I mean one-storied America) say in Kansas? Do you know how "rich" they are?

Russia's economy is growing but it has a long way to go to catch up to the West.

Read my post above this page. Once again: THERE IS NO OFFICIAL STATISTICS in Russia. Almost all employers here are hiding from taxes, so the "official" numbers you see are just fake.
For example, it's ok here if I hire you and tell you something like that: "your official salary will be $100 a month, but I will pay you $1500 on hands". So what the official statistics will say in such a case???

GNI/GDP data are used to determine the size of an economy and calculate growth. Fact is, Russia is still poor compared to the West.

I know what GNI/GDP is. But once again, all the official numbers are fake. The $7 form each $10 earned by Russian governmemt from selling gas and oil is going to offshore bank accounts. The ppl. here is getting "black" salary etc. I don't want to say it's good. But it's really affects to any statistic info you may see. No one is able to calculate even the rough amount of money that only Moscow ppl have "on hands"...
Salary in west countries is really bigger, than in Russia. But Russia traditionally has free educational and medical services for every citizen of the contry. What about EU/USA?
I live more than 1000 km away from Moscow in a small town, but I don't see 70% of poor people, but average salary is about $250 here.
its quite clear that Moscow like all places on the world has its fair share of wealthy countrys but saying that Russia as a whole ain't a poor country...lets get real eh
just came across this and remembered this thread. for moscow to be the 4th most expensive city on earth does mean something.. i know i sure as hell couldnt live in any of the other top cities for $200/mo or whatever
